Absent: none
Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 3:02 P.M.
Approval of Minutes:
City Clerk Houser noted the first order of business was the approval of the April 10, 2013
meeting minutes. A motion was made by Eileen Wicklund, supported by Steve Hudson, to
approve the April 10, 2013 Election Commission meeting minutes as presented. All yes, none
opposed. Motion carried.
Precinct Polling Location Changes:
A. Precinct # 1 – Trinity Lutheran Church
Ms. Houser stated the Clerk’s Office needed to move Precinct #1 as South Hill Academy
has been closed and First Pentecostal Church was no longer going to be owned by a non-
profit organization, therefore not eligible to be a polling location. Ms. Houser stated
Trinity Lutheran Church, located at 2055 E. Columbia Avenue, had agreed to allow the
City to move the polling location of Precinct #1 to their church.
Mr. Hudson inquired as to the new location for Precinct #14, which was also at First
Pentecostal Church.
Ms. Houser stated that during the Ward Redistricting, Precinct #14 had been merged into
Precinct #18, with a polling location at Cherry Hill Manor, at 10 Clay Street.
MOTION: A motion was made by Steve Hudson, supported by Eileen Wicklund, to
authorize the moving of the polling location of Precinct #1 from First Pentecostal Church
to Trinity Lutheran Church, located at 2055 E. Columbia Avenue. All yes, none
opposed. Motion carried.
B. Precincts #4 & #10 – Christ United Methodist Church
Ms. Houser stated Battle Creek Schools had recently expressed concerns regarding
school safety, requesting a Police Officer be posted at each polling location on election
days. Due to this, Ms. Houser stated she had started to look for a new polling location for
Precincts #4 & #10 which were located at Lamora Elementary School. Ms. Houser stated
Christ United Methodist Church agreed to allow the City to use their church as a polling
location for the two precincts.

MOTION: A motion was made by Eileen Wicklund, supported by Steve Hudson, to
authorize the moving of the polling location of Precincts #4 and #10 from Lamora
Elementary School to Christ United Methodist Church, located at 65 N. Bedford Road.
All yes, none opposed. Motion carried.
C. Precinct #12 – Second Missionary Baptist Church
Ms. Houser stated she had started to search for a new location for Precinct #12, currently
located at Ann. J. Kellogg Elementary School due to school safety concerns. Ms. Houser
stated she had contacted Washington Heights Community Church to request the
possibility of using their church as a polling location for both Precinct #12 and Precinct
#21. Ms. Houser stated that as she had not received a confirmation from them, she
requested Second Missionary Baptist Church allow the City to locate Precinct #12 to
their church. Pastor Wyne agreed to allow Precinct #12 to use his church as a polling
location, along with Precinct #21 that was already located at the church. Pastor Wyne
confirmed the new polling location could be held in the basement of the church, which
provided accessibility via an elevator, which was measured and determined large enough
to accommodate the election equipment cart also.
MOTION: A motion was made by Steve Hudson, supported by Eileen Wicklund, to
authorize the moving of the polling location of Precinct #12 from Ann. J. Kellogg
Elementary School to Second Missionary Baptist Church, located at 485 N Washington
Avenue. All yes, none opposed. Motion carried.
