City of Battle Creek Election Commission Meeting 10 N. Division Street – Room 111 Battle Creek, MI October 11, 2016 9:00 AM Present: Jill Steele, Steve Hudson and Vicki Houser Absent: None Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 9:02 A.M. Public Accuracy Test: Clerk Houser presented the November 8, 2016 election test deck, stating the testing would be performed with an expectation the Optech Tabulator results would match the test deck provided. Ms. Houser inserted each ballot, describing the reasoning for the ballot marking, and the expected result from the tabulator. Upon completion of the ballot testing, Ms. Houser printed the totals tape, confirming the totals matched the results on the test deck. Ms. Steele and Mr. Hudson reviewed the totals tape, confirming the totals matched the test deck totals. Approval of Minutes: Clerk Houser noted the first order of business was the approval of the July 13, 2016 meeting minutes. A motion was made by Assessor Hudson, supported by Attorney Steele, to approve the July 13, 2016 Election Commission meeting minutes. All yes, none opposed. Motion carried. Appointment of Election Inspectors for the November 8, 2016 General Election: Clerk Houser noted the next business was to appoint election inspectors for the November 8, 2016 election. Clerk Houser noted two AV Counting Boards would be used for this election. A motion was made by Attorney Steele, supported by Assessor Hudson, to approve the precinct inspectors as presented and the two AV County Boards for the November 8, 2016 Election. All yes, none opposed. Motion approved. Public Comments: There were no public comments. Commission Comments: Clerk Houser discussed the expected turnout for the General Election, noting the Bureau of Elections had provided an estimate of voter turnout for each precinct, factoring the subtraction of expected Absentee Voting. Clerk Houser also noted additional voting booths were being ordered for each precinct. Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 9:24 AM. 1
