ETHICS POLICY REVIEW COMMITTEE August 16, 2007 4:00 p.m. Conference Room 302A 10 N. Division Street Battle Creek, MI 49014 Committee Members Present: Commissioners Baldwin, Hersha, and Owens. Committee Members Absent: Commissioner MacFarlane Staff Present: City Attorney Clyde Robinson and City Clerk Susan Bedsole Call to Order: Commissioner Hersha called the meeting to order at 4:14 p.m. Public Comment: There was no public comment. Business: A motion was made by Commissioner Baldwin, supported by Commissioner Owens, to approve the June 27, 2005, meeting minutes. All yes. Motion carried. Commissioner Baldwin suggested that the Ethics Committee also set up an orientation package for new commissioners. Attorney Robinson stated that the Attorney’s office would be distributing handbooks for new commissioners to use as a reference after the next City Commission election. Commissioner Hersha did not suggest any changes in the Code of Ethics for next year. Attorney Robinson noted that the only requirement is to submit a report to the City Commission at the first meeting in December to recommend no changes. Commissioner Hersha suggested that the new commissioners attend a Michigan Municipal League training seminar in January. Commissioners Baldwin and Owens agreed. Comm. Baldwin commented that there should be an expectation that all commissioners should participate in city meetings beyond the regular Commission meetings. Next Meeting: The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, August 21, 2007, in Room 302A. Adjournment: Commissioner Hersha adjourned the meeting at 4:55 p.m. SB/mmj
