Goguac Lake Board Meeting Minutes Department of Public Works Willard Beach Pavilion 600 Jennings Landing Battle Creek, Michigan 49015 Sept. 3, 2020 Board Members Present: John Avery (phone); Mark Behnke; Kathy-Sue Vette; Gerardyne Drozdowski (phone) Others Present: Nelson Karre , attorney (phone); Kurt Tribbett , City Engineer; Steve Hudson, City Assessor; Patty Hoch-Melluish, City Environmental; Tony Groves, Progressive AE (phone) Call to Order: Avery called the meeting to order at 4:08 p.m. Approval of Minutes: Behnke moved to approve the March 12, 2020 minutes. Vette seconded. All yes, motion carried. Quarterly Financial Report: Tribbett presented Goguac Lake Board Financial Report as of September 3, 2020. Tribbett said that due to the amount of plant growth and removal needed this summer, this item will be $2,000 over budget to Gardner Brothers. Avery also stated that he has observed unprecedented boat traffic in 2020. He counted about 50 more boats on the lake than in previous years. There is a $500 balance for aquatic plant control services. Aquatic Plant Control: Groves reported that three herbicide treatments have taken place to date: May 26, June 23 and July 22. A survey for Eurasian watermilfoil was conducted by Progressive AE on August 26 following EGLE protocol to determine if a whole lake Sonar treatment will be needed/allowed in 2021. Weed Pickup: Tribbett reported that Gardner Brothers will expend an additional $2,000 in 2020 for weed pickup services. Approval of Aquatic Plant Management Contractors for Budget Cycle: Vette moved to approve PLM and Gardner Brothers as contractors for aquatic plant management for the remainder of the budget cycle. Behnke seconded. All approved, motion carried. Public Comments: Hoch-Melluish announced the Krazy for the Kazoo cleanup and stewardship day hosted by the City on Oct. 3, 2020. All are encouraged to participate.
