Goguac Lake Board Meeting Minutes Department of Public Works Zoom Meeting September 9, 2021 Board Members Present: John Avery; Mark Behnke; Kathy-Sue Vette; Gerardyne Drozdowski; Ron Smith Others Present: Nelson Karre, attorney; Patty Hoch-Melluish, City Environmental; Paul Hausler, Progressive AE Call to Order: Avery called the meeting to order at 4:01 p.m. Approval of Minutes: Smith moved to approve the June 10, 2021 minutes. All yes, motion carried. Quarterly Financial Report: Hoch-Melluish presented Goguac Lake Board Financial Report as of Sept. 9, 2021. There is a ($26,037.87) balance due to additional weed treatments in 2021. There is an overall fund balance of $27,523.30. Vette moved to approve the financial report. All yes, motion carried. Aquatic Plant Control: Hausler reported the aquatic vegetation management activities to date. Progressive AE handouts were not able to be shared during meeting and will be forwarded to GLB for review. Phragmites Treatment: Phragmites were observed near the horseshoe canal area during the June 2 weed treatment survey. Hoch-Melluish discussed the option of working with the Barry, Calhoun, Kalamazoo CISMA for technical expertise and funding support to treat this before it spreads and becomes more difficult to control. Newsletter discussion of duck and geese: It was recommended that the topic of feeding ducks and geese be included in the next Progressive AE newsletter. Assessment Process: The current GLB assessment is due to run out at end of 2022. Workshops for 2022 will be discussed at the December 2021 GLB meeting. “Shoreline Living” Free booklet: Friday, Sept. 10, 2021 is the last day to order these free booklets through the Midwest Glacial Lakes Partnership. GLB will get some for distribution. Public Comments: No public comments Board Member Comments: Behnke asked if the resident with concerns about the last chemical application was contacted. Hoch-Melluish called the resident and referred him to Hausler at Progressive AE. There was a discussion of the possibility of having the City post information on weed treatment dates to inform residents and the public. Meeting Adjourned: Meeting adjourned at 4:27 p.m. Next Scheduled Meeting: Thursday, December 9, 2021, 4 p.m. Location TBD
