NORTHCENTRAL NEIGHBORHOOD PLANNING COUNCIL #2 Meeting Minutes –December 11,2017 SMCDC 47 N. Washington Avenue Battle Creek 1. Call to Order & Welcome: Pastor Joe Hooper called the NPC #2 meeting at 7:00 p.m. 2. Attendance, Members Present: Jeffrey Dinkins, Geraldine King, Kitty Hillian, Ron Sweet, Pastor Joe Hooper, Bettie Robertson, Larz Martin Bey Guests: Officers Gentry and Hopkins(BCPD), Kelly Dillman (BCPD), Leah Dodd (Willard Library), Kristyn Denison (SWMCDC) 3. Approval of Minutes: Motion to approve the November 13, 2017 meeting minutes. Motion Carried. 4. Correspondence (cent/received) & Announcements: Pastor Hooper presented notices of the Planning Commission Meeting and Historic District Commission Meeting. Members received information from Battle Creek Area Transportation Study, and Battle Creek Community Kwanzaa Committee’s invitation to attend this years Ujamaa Celebration. December 29,2017 at 5:00pm located at Faith Temple COGIC, 382 Washington Avenue. All are welcome! 5. Guest Presentation: Leah Dodd, Director Willard Library. Leah passed out information on various programs offered to their members and the community. The library would like to see more use of the programs they offer by all members within our community. 6. Committee & City Staff Reports: a. Police Department –Officer Gentry presented the NPC2 monthly report, there were no copies for members. The chair’s copy of the report will be placed in record. b. Neighborhood Services – none c. Beautiful Battle Creek Award Nominations – none d. Membership – N/A. e. Community Engagement – Beautification Project Kristyn Denison, SWMCDC Director, reported that the number of homes receiving grants was 22 at $20 thousand. The overall program was positive, a full report will be forthcoming. f. Elected Officials –none g. Battle Creek Public Schools -none 7. Old Business: N/A. 8. New Business: The election committee, Council Officers—All Officers will stay in seat for another term. A 2nd Vice Chair position was established to assist the chair’s duties. A vote was taken and Larz Martin Bey was elected to the position of 2nd Vice-Chair 9. Public Comments/Member Comments: none 10. Next Meeting: Monday, January 8, 7:00 p.m. at SWMCDC 47 Washington Avenue. 11. Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 8:30pm. JLH
