Call to Order/Time Convened: 7:03 PM

Addition or Deletions to the Agenda: none
Approval of the Minutes: Motion by Jerry Dill, 2nd by Trudy Hall to accept the January
10, 2019 Minutes with the correction to the amount of the Byrne Grant from the
Battle Creek Community Foundation; received $14, 369 not $20,000. CARRIED
City Staff Reports:
Police Department: Officer Haggard presented from Computer the report of crime
Statistics of our NPC area.
Kelly Dillman gave a report from Be Safe; and, gave highlights from Press Releases
Done recently. Next Be Safe Meeting will be on Thursday, February 28th at the
Battle Creek Police Department Community Room. Food at 5:30pm, with meeting
From 6-8pm.
Code Reports: were handed out by Joel.
Committee Reports:
Commissioner Report: Commissioner Simmons told us that the new cell phone
Use ordinance will begin on Friday, a reduced Budget option passed, goals set for
City Manager. Problems discussed were garbage pickup (can contact Lizzy Paul-
Environmental Program Coordinator at 966-3355 x1889 with concerns); and,
That our streets aren’t being cleaned from curbs out and a lot of snow being left
Behind.
Schools: Lakeview’s Blake Prewitt Superintendent talked about snow days,
Construction at Westlake & Riverside Schools to begin soon, State cut funding by
$300,000, not receiving funds for exchange students anymore (they have 43),
As number of students living in district rises-number of school of choice lowers so
Classrooms aren’t crowded. Territorial School needs extensive and expensive
Repairs so talks have been happening with two developers and City of putting
Single family homes or townhomes on this site. The Alternative School is moving
To the Burma Center and the Japanese School to Minges Creek School.
