CALL TO ORDER / TIME CONVENED: 7:01 pm
ATTENDANCE: No Quorum

CITY STAFF REPORTS:
Police Department: Officer Downey passed out the reports. He mentioned Kia Thefts are down, retail
fraud problems at Family Fare & assault problems at the
Dollar Tree by some juveniles. Are being proactive for marijuana dispensary break-ins (as many in
surrounding areas are happening) by driving by more often.
Code Report: Officer Kim Brown handed out reports. She mentioned junk accumulation and
early/late garbage cans the highest complaints. A lot of front yard parking and cars parked across
sidewalks.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Commissioner Report: Discussion of the MDOT Project of the Penetrator and the vote by the City
Commission to keep it as is and not turned into a Boulevard and removing the bridges
(except for those over the railroad tracks and the river). Also in April the Ordinance that affects
“Long term living” in area hotels & motels will go back into being enforced…if no basic
Amenities (like a kitchen). This was put in place just before Covid hit.

NEW BUSINESS FOR FUTURE MEETINGS: Having the NPC3 Yard Signs passed out.

MEMBERS COMMENT: Pastor Janet told us of activities that occur here, in this building of Trinity
Community Center- blood drives, Presidential Election, Earth Day Cleanup April 20, 2024
And in May (date to be announced later) a expo day with many vendors (like Community Development
Dept of the City, Code Department, Senior Services of Calhoun County,
Neighborhood Inc and more to learn how to maintain our homes and services available to us).
Gloria mentioned hearing on radio that the Marshall Credit Union has Teacher Grants available to
those in Calhoun County. She also said the Podcasts on Saturday 8am and
8pm on FM95.3 (sponsored by Lakeview Ford) are very informative on our area. Chris Simmons
said you can view on Battlecreek podcasts.org
Cynde mentioned the “Smoke Alarms Help Save Lives Installation Campaign for our NPC3 area that we
will need volunteers for the dates of May 4 & 11th from 8:30am to noon.
It is for Home Owners (No Rentals); 3 per household and 1 carbon monoxide alarm. Also deaf and
hard of hearing systems (all sealed battery).
166 home installations per year; deaf & hard of hearing based on needs and system availabilities.
