MINUTES: Neighborhood Planning Council #4, Fremont/Verona/McKinley Meeting Date: Wednesday, July 17, 2013, 7:00 PM Location: Maple United Methodist Church, 342 Capital Ave. N.E. Call to Order at 7:03 pm Attendance and Introduction of Guests Members: (5‐no quorum) Laura Adams, Marcia Austin, Mary Conklin, Kaytee Faris, John Hennink Guests: Dave Gauthier, Ray Brown City Officials: Officer Tanya Wilt, Sgt. Kathy Chrenenko Changes to Agenda: None Approval of Minutes Program: None Governmental Reports • Police Report: Officer Tanya Wilt noted that summer is particularly busy for PD. Nothing major to report. Marcia Austin reported junked car still parked in her (shared) driveway at 42 Groveland. Owner has been ticketed by code officer and had court dates and ignored them. Tags expired but not visible from street. John Hennink brought up the issue of loud music and asked how it can be addressed? Ofc. Chrenenko recommended calling 911 and asking that a ticket be written. Hennink brought up the foot patrols and asked if they were implemented in this area. Officer Wilt noted she does them on Capital/Wabash/McKinley. Members suggested Calhoun/Orchard/Frelinghuysen (now having prostitution issues). Prostitute named Doreen currently working corner of Frelinghuysen and Fremont, and approaching resident of AFC home at 42 Fremont. City of Battle Creek made the ordinance such that PD has to observe prostitute flagging someone down and soliciting, usually able to arrest for drug paraphernalia or jaywalking. • Code Compliance: None (Code officer not present) • City Commissioner: None • County Commissioners: None Correspondence External Commission Reports:  • Housing Board of Appeals: 31 North McKinley‐voted no, but did receive an extension for 30 days (painting violation). Dangerous building at 129 Orchard Avenue‐order affirmed.
