NORTHEAST PLANNING COUNCIL #4 (Fermont/Verona/McKinley) MEETING MINUTES April 16, 2025 FIRST CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH, 145 NE CAPITAL AVE Date: 4.16.25 Members Dave Salerno, Kim Perry, Tanya Waschak, Mary Lusk, Roger Koning, Mary Conklin Guests: Rebecca Parker, Bryan Gandy, Craig Long, Mitch Fowler, Teresa Yeck, Lena Oliver, Coweta Smith, Jay Henry David chaired the meeting. Minutes: The approval of March minutes was postponed due to a lack of quorum. BCPD: Craig handed out the March crime report. He has been dealing with juveniles on motorbikes during school hours with unresponsive parents. Rebecca asked if there were still truant officers at the schools. Mitch suggested a home visit by school personnel, and Craig was open to pursuing this. Code: Bryan handed out - March-April code compliance and inspection issues. Junk accumulation and inoperable vehicles topped the list. The paint program continues for owner-occupied households. Kim and Tanya talked about damaged properties in their neighborhood for sale on Zillow. BCPS: Craig handed out the March crime report. Mary Lusk reported on the summer programs First Presbyterian Church provides for the community. Movies at the youth center, performing artist at Wabascon retreat center, June 6, fall tailgates for high school, Taco Tuesdays, and Zumba. Rebecca let people know the NPC has a Facebook group they can join and stay connected, and that Karma House is open with meditation and movement classes offered in the neighborhood.
