Meeting at Christ United Methodist Church
65 North Bedford Road
Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM by Robert Whitfield, chair.
Attendance: Robert Whitfield, Chair; David Moore; Stan Beckwith; Dale Stratton; Mary Lou Ramon;

Previous Minutes: September 2013 minutes were approved by voice vote.

Police Report: N/A
Guest Speaker: Candidates for City Commissioner were given a public forum to introduce themselves
and answer questions from the Council. The candidates who spoke were as follows:

Mary Lou Ramon
Andy Hemboldt
Kaytee Faris
Dave Walters
Commissioner’s Report: Mayor Susan Baldwin discussed the Battle Creek City budget as well as
economic development, small business and visioning/goal setting. The Mayor also fielded questions
from the council.

Membership: Deborah Gregory had an excused absence
Beautiful Battle Creek Award: 84 Bond – Stan & Barbara Beckwith as reported by Dale Stratton
Old Business: N/A
New Business: The Chair entertained a motion to add Hal Longman as a member. The motion was
approved by voice vote. The speaker for November will be Barbara Barnes from Burnham Brook.
Public Comment: Comments were made by the members in reference to the flowers along Michigan
Avenue / Family Fare.
Adjournment: Chair Whitfield adjourned the meeting at 8:10 PM
