Minutes of the May 12, 2015 Meeting
Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 6:30 PM by Linda Morris.
Members Present: Kingery Clingenpeel, Laura Clingenpeel, Durward McCleary, Linda Morris,
Cindy Snyder, Robert Snyder, Sally Wytko, Harry Zimmerman
City Officials: Darren Campbell City Engineer, BCPD Sgt. A. Perin, BCPD Officer Nathan
Hopkins
Kara Werner - Habitat for Humanity

Approval of the Minutes: The minutes for April were approved. Motion by B. Snyder/
McCleary
Battle Creek Area Habitat for Humanity Interim Director, Kara Werner addressed the group
discussing their move, general office and ReStore locations and the three programs of the
organization: Home Building, Home Repair, and their Ramp Program. She also encouraged
us to become Habitat volunteers.
The Code Compliance Report for Apr. 14 through May 11, 2015 was distributed. Because of
her absence, members were asked to address any questions to Christine Zuzga at
cmzuzga@battlecreekmi.gov. Bob and Cindy Snyder expressed their thanks to Chris for
resolving an issue they had with a pole barn on Watkins Rd.
Officer Hopkins distributed the BCPD Crime Report for the Rural Southwest. He discussed
juvenile problems, the cases of stolen catalytic convertors, and traffic cameras. Council
members commented on lack of officers within the council area, and on speeding issues on
Stone Jug and Watkins Roads. Appreciation was expressed to the BCPD for the work that
they do within our city.
Darren Campbell, from the city of Battle Creek Engineering Dept. discussed the 2015 road
treatments which will take place within our NPC (Chipseal and Hot-In-Place Recycling
followed by Chipseal).
Old Business:
Linda reported that Cereal City Pediatrics will have ambulances at their new building only
when needed to transport children to the hospital.
Several members offered to work on the Lois Drive berm on a date to be scheduled.
New Business:
None
The meeting was adjourned at 7:50 p.m
