Minutes of the March 14, 2017 Meeting
Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm by George Wytko.
Members Present: Kingery Clingenpeel, Laura Clingenpeel, Robert Harland, Durward McCleary, Linda Morris, Cindy
Snyder, Robert Snyder, Shelby Winslow, George Wytko, Sally Wytko, Harry Zimmerman
City Officials Present: Vice Mayor, Susan Baldwin, Officer Tom Burke, BCPD
Members Excused: Rex Winslow,
Approval of the Minutes: The minutes for January 10, 2017 were approved as printed. Motions by L Morris/S. Winslow
Officer Burke introduced himself and distributed the Foot Patrol/Traffic Stops, and the Part 1 /2 Crimes reports for the
month of February in the Rural Southwest. The above reports will be online for members to view in the future. He
noted concerns about traffic speeds on Sonoma and Watkins Roads. He reminded us to watch “Nextdoor Neighbor”
for police updates and announcements.
City Staff Updates: The following information was distributed:
Code Compliance report for Jan 11, 2017 to March 13, 2017
Vice Mayor, Susan Baldwin gave us an update on city information: She covered the car accident in the river, the fire at
Lynn Ivan Salon, sanitary sewer inspections, rain barrels, The Youth Alliance, possible rentals for vacant business
buildings, upcoming workshops for medical marijuana, and animal ordinances/urban farms, and several other points of
interest. She also answered several questions from council members.
Old Business: We discussed the landscaping grant which would be used to clean up the berm at Lois Drive and Beckley
Rd. George Wytko has met with the Battle Creek Community Foundation and is aiming to have the grant submitted by
the end of the month. Additional ideas and information for the grant were offered by members.
New Business: Amanda Lankerd from Battle Creek Vision has asked to meet with our group to discuss our ideas for
improving the quality of life in Battle Creek. She will be invited to speak with us at our April meeting.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:40 p.m. Motions by B. Snyder/D. McCleary
