Rural Southwest Neighborhood Planning Council St. Peter Lutheran Church Minutes of the March 13, 2018 Meeting Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 7: 00 pm by George Wytko. Members Present: Kingery Clingenpeel, Laura Clingenpeel, Cindy Snyder, Robert Snyder, George Wytko, Sally Wytko, City Officials Present: Officer Clayton Denney, BCPD; Chris Zuzga, Battle Creek Planning Director Guests Present: Jessica Gilbert and Shevy Rocho, The Humane Society of South Central Michigan Approval of the Minutes: The minutes of January 9, 2018 could not be approved as the NPC did not have a quorum present. City Staff Updates:  Officer Denney distributed the Foot Patrol/Traffic Stops, and the Part 1 Crimes reports for the month of February in the Rural Southwest. He commented on various types of police activity in our area and asked for comments and questions. He was asked to check on the use of the Humane Society Dog Park by non –members and to watch for speeders on various Rural Southwest roads.  Chris Zuzga distributed the Code Compliance Report for 2/13/2018 to 3/12/2018 and commented on snow plow issues. She also reported on the variance request from Summit Development. Richard Bolek from the Inspections department will be attending next month in her place. Presentation: In an effort to develop increased community awareness of the Humane Society, Jessica Gilbert and Shevy Rocho discussed policies, programs, training, animal housing, exchange adoption processes, volunteer opportunities, funding, and how to deal with animal nuisances. Old Business: None New Business: George discussed our NPC membership numbers. Chris Zuzga will look into the possibility of having The Humane Society as a member of the NPC.
