Call to Order: Mr. Helmboldt called the meeting to order at 1:10 p.m.
Members Present: Andy Helmboldt, Michael Myszka, Kurt Tribett, Comm. Susan Baldwin, Sue Anderson, Sarah Kelly, and Kathy Antaya
(arrived late)
Members Absent: Kate Flores, Comm. Christopher Simmons, Tiffany Welsh, Lindsey Johnson,
Others: Elizabeth (Liz) Paul, Environmental Program Coordinator; Eric Feldt, Planning; Jacob Schacht; Lisa Silkworth, Clerk’s Office.
Call to Order: Mr. Helmboldt called the meeting to order at 1:10 p.m.,
Approval of Minutes: Comm. Baldwin made a motion to approve the minutes from the May 28, 2018 meeting, seconded by Mr. Myszka.
All Yes. Approved. Comm. Baldwin made a motion to approve the minutes from the June 25, 2018, seconded by Mr. Myszka. All Yes.
Approved.
Additions or Deletions to the Agenda: none
Old Business:
Line 5 – Members discussed a letter being drafted by Comm. Baldwin. Comm. Baldwin discussed a report that came out on or around
July 20, 2018. Mr. Myszka made a motion to recommend the letter be forwarded to the City Commission to be sent out to the listed
people, seconded by Ms. Antaya. All Yes. Approved.
Sustainability Plan – Eric Feldt, Planning Department, reviewed the Sustainability Plan. Mr. Feldt noted the goal is to provide the City
Commission with a sustainability plan for the City as a whole. Mr. Feldt noted the need for a local definition. Members discussed verbiage
in the draft plan. Mr. Feldt noted he would send out the draft plan to department heads and the City Manager. Mr. Feldt will make the
changes the members discussed.
New Business: None.
Member Updates/Reports:
City Energy Efficiency Activities: Kurt Tribett gave his report.
Environmental Program Update: Liz Paul gave her report. Ms. Paul noted a recycling event coming up, Paper Shredding, and
Recycling on August 25, 2018.
Planning Updates: Eric Feldt reported on a couple of new parking lots going in and the New Holland Brewery going in downtown.
City Commission Updates: Comm. Baldwin reported about the environmental design of the new police building. Mr. Helmboldt noted
that Comm. Walters resigned. Comm. Baldwin explained the process.
Member Comment/Announcements: Sarah Kelly noted the County would be doing a tire collection in Albion starting Wednesday, July
25, 2018. Ms. Kelly also noted there were tires in a house that is owned by the Land Bank and they were working on removing them. The
members discussed how to put more information out to the public. Kathy Antaya mentioned buying locally grown vegetables at Leila
Arboretum.
Public Comment: None.
Next Meeting: The next meeting of the Sustainable BC Committee will be August 27, 2018, 1:00-2:30 p.m. at City Hall, Conference
Room 302B.
Adjournment: Mr. Helmboldt adjourned the meeting at 2:30 pm.

The purpose of this Committee is to increase the City's efforts to incorporate environmentally
responsible, cost effective policy in the planning, administration and economic development of
its built infrastructure and natural resources. The Committee may make recommendations to
the City Commission for their consideration and will be available as a resource on sustainability
policy.
