City of Battle Creek Sustainable BC Committee Zoom Monday, October 3, 2022, 3:30pm Minutes Call to Order - 3:32 pm Attendance – Andy Helmboldt, Patty Hoch-Melluish, Bessie Stears, Bob Gilbert, Keona Ackley, Sarah Kelly, Jill Anderson, Mayor Mark Behnke Guests - Janine Reed, Kurt Tribett, James Gray, Michelle Frank Approval of Minutes – Jill Anderson made a motion to approve the minutes for the May 2, 2022 and June 6, 2022, seconded by Keona Ackley. All Yes. Reports - GUEST: James Gray, Natural Capital Forestry, city’s forestry program introduced himself. Mr. Gray also fielded questions. - Energy efficiency & Environmental Programs update - None - Planning updates - None - City Commission updates - None Sustainability Plan - None Field Trips, Trainings - None Other Business – Josh Etheridge resigned. Potential new member, Janine Reed, introduced herself. The members are in favor of her joining the committee. Public Comment – Michelle Frank spoke about the Art Center and Sustainability Issues. Member Comments/Announcements – Sarah Kelly mentioned the Household Waste Event coming up. Next Meeting – December 5, 2022 3:30pm - Zoom Adjournment – 4:27pm

City of Battle Creek Sustainable BC Committee Zoom Monday, October 3, 2022, 3:30pm The purpose of this Committee is to increase the City's efforts to incorporate environmentally responsible, cost effective policy in the planning, administration and economic development of its built infrastructure and natural resources. The Committee may make recommendations to the City Commission for their consideration and will be available as a resource on sustainability policy. The committee is grateful for the land upon which we live, and recognizes the Potawatomi Nation as the original inhabitants. The committee seeks to partner when possible with the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi (NHBP) Tribe in stewardship of the land and its natural resources.
