City of Battle Creek Sustainable BC Committee Zoom Monday, December 12, 2022, 3:30pm MINUTES Call to Order – 3:32 pm Attendance – Andy Helmboldt, Janine Reed, Sarah Kelly Lundy, Patty Hoch-Melliush, Bessie Stears, Keona Ackley, Kathy Antaya, Jill Anderson, Frank Drury Non-Members – Kurt Tribett Approval of Minutes – Keona Ackley made a motion to approve the minutes from the October 3, 2022 meeting, seconded by Janine Reed. All yes. Approved. Reports - Energy efficiency & Environmental Programs update was presented by Patty Hoch- Melliush. Sarah Kelly Lundy updated the Committee on County Programs. - Planning updates - none - City Commission updates - none Sustainability Plan: - Plan updates for 2023. The Committee discussed updates and ideas. Field Trips, Trainings, Etc. - none Other Business - Meeting schedule for 2023 – Committee discussed changing the day and time. Janine Reed made a motion to hold the meetings on the 4th Monday of even numbered months at 1:30 pm except December which would be the 3rd Monday at 1:30 pm, seconded by Keona Ackley. All yes. Approved. Public Comment – Michelle Frank spoke of the upcoming program at the Art Center that focuses on Conservation called “Be a Water Hero”. September 20, 2023 thru October 31, 2023. Member Comments/Announcements – Members discussed plans for 2023 and possible outings. Next Meeting – February 27, 2023 via Zoom at 1:30 pm. Adjournment – 4:29 pm

City of Battle Creek Sustainable BC Committee Zoom Monday, December 12, 2022, 3:30pm The purpose of this Committee is to increase the City's efforts to incorporate environmentally responsible, cost effective policy in the planning, administration and economic development of its built infrastructure and natural resources. The Committee may make recommendations to the City Commission for their consideration and will be available as a resource on sustainability policy. The committee is grateful for the land upon which we live, and recognizes the Potawatomi Nation as the original inhabitants. The committee seeks to partner when possible with the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi (NHBP) Tribe in stewardship of the land and its natural resources.
