City of Battle Creek Sustainable BC Committee Zoom Monday, February 27, 2023, 1:30pm MINUTES Call to Order – 1:30 pm Attendance – Patti Hoch-Melliush, Keona Ackley, Kathy Antaya, Bob Gilbert, Janine Reed, Frank Drury, Bessie Stears, Roger Ballard (left meeting at 2:00 pm), Barry Skutt Jr, Jarrett Geering, Sarah Kelly Lundy Non-Member – Kurt Tribett, Michelle Frank Approval of Minutes – Bessie Stears made a motion to approve the minutes from the December 12, 2022 meeting, seconded by Keona Ackley. All yes. Approved. Reports – - Energy efficiency & Environmental Programs updates • Fell Park cleanup (per Franklin's email) – members discussed a clean-up day. • Community-wide GHG inventory funding – Bob Gilbert gave an update. • Forestry plan from James Gray – Kurt Tribett updated the committee • "Working" meeting for April to help Sarah Lundy w/recycling event – Sarah Kelly Lundy reminded the committee of the event on April 24th, 2023 and asked for volunteers. Bessie Stears made a motion to cancel the meeting on April 24th, 2023, seconded by Bob Gilbert. All yes. Approved. Meeting Cancelled. • New Kanoe the Kazoo format – Bessie Stears discussed the event. Bessie Stears updated on other events as well. Other Business – - Art Center water event – Michelle Frank mentioned upcoming Art Center events. Public Comment - none Member Comments/Announcements – Kathy Antaya mentioned a Field Trip with the Art Center. Next Meeting – June 26th, 2023, 1:30pm Adjournment – 2:30pm

City of Battle Creek Sustainable BC Committee Zoom Monday, February 27, 2023, 1:30pm The purpose of this Committee is to increase the City's efforts to incorporate environmentally responsible, cost effective policy in the planning, administration and economic development of its built infrastructure and natural resources. The Committee may make recommendations to the City Commission for their consideration and will be available as a resource on sustainability policy. The committee is grateful for the land upon which we live, and recognizes the Potawatomi Nation as the original inhabitants. The committee seeks to partner when possible with the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi (NHBP) Tribe in stewardship of the land and its natural resources.
