Animal Shelter Advisory Board Minutes July 19, 2017 STATE OF TEXAS COUNTY OF TARRANT CITY OF BEDFORD The Animal Shelter Advisory Board of the City of Bedford, Texas met in a regular session at 2:00 p.m. in at City Hall 2000 Forest Ridge Drive, on the 19th day of July, 2017 with the following members present Eric Griffin Deputy Police Chief (Staff Liaison) Mark Bellinghausen Animal Control Supervisor Dr. Susan Read Chairman Karen Killian Board Member CALL TO ORDER/GENERAL COMMENTS Chairman Dr. Susan Read called the meeting to order at 2:00 p.m. Dr Susan Read asked if there were any amendments or changes to the minutes from the last meeting. 1. Consider approval of the following Animal Shelter Advisory Board Minutes: a) regular meeting: July 19, 2017 Chairperson Dr. Susan Read made the motion that the minutes taken on July 19th, 2017, be approved as written. Board member Karen Killian seconded the motion. Minutes approved as written no changes. 2. Report on shelter statistical data. Monthly reports for January through June of 2016 compared with January through June 2017 were distributed to board members to review. Mark Bellinghausen stated the live intakes are still declining and that adoptions are looking good and live releases look wonderful. Dr. Susan Read asked if we were able to track our transfer releases. Mark Bellinghausen stated we did follow up on animals that are not spayed or neutered at the time of the release and follow up on rabies vaccinations.Karen Killian asked if all the animals leaving the shelter are currently being chipped. Mark Bellinghausen advised that per policy all animals being adopted or transferred are being micro chipped. We are not chipping the owned animals being reclaimed Dr. Susan Read asked if the claimed animals are being offered a low cost micro chip. Mark Bellinghausen stated micro chips with registration are available for $25.00. Dr. Susan Read asked if there were any new business. Councilman Roger Fisher advised the council is grateful for yall and the Board should get back to full strength when the biannual appointments come around. Dr. Susan Read made a motion to adjourn the meeting as there was no additional business to be discussed.
