STATE OF TEXAS COUNTY OF TARRANT CITY OF BEDFORD The Community Affairs Commission of the City of Bedford, Texas, met in regular session at 5:30 p.m. at the City Hall Conference Room, 2000-A Forest Ridge Drive, Bedford, Texas, Thursday, the 16th of November, 2017 with the following members present: Sal Caruso Mary Frazior Robert Gagliardi Steve Grubbs Margaret Hall Tracy Madewell Joe Zavala Rick Solt (arrived @ 6:00p) Terry Sullivan Doug White (arrived @ 5:40p) constituting quorum. Others present: Meg Jakubik - City Staff Liaison - Strategic Services Mgr Absent: Terry Smith Michael Boyter CALL TO ORDER Chairman Sal Caruso called the meeting to order at 5:31 pm. OPENING REMARKS AND WELCOME 1. Review/revise and approve minutes of the following Community Affairs Commission meetings: a) October 19, 2017 Motioned by Mary Frazier, seconded by Tracy Madewell to approve the minutes as written. The motion passed unanimously. NEW BUSINESS 2. Discussion and possible action on canceling the December 2017 Commission meeting. Motioned by Margaret Hall, seconded by Terri Sullivan to cancel the December meeting. The motion passed unanimously. 3. Discussion and possible action on the Calendar of Events for 2018. The Commission discussed dates for events in calendar year 2018. There was a consensus for the Block Parties to be held on April 27 and September 20, the Residential Outreach on March 28 and October 10, and the Business Roundtable on June 7 and November 1. 1 4. Review and possible action regarding Subcommittee Director Reports: a. Residential Outreach Dates were discussed with the previous item. i. Block Party The dates for the events were discussed in the previous item, the spring event will be held in a neighborhood and the fall at a school. b. Business Outreach Mr. White thanked everyone who helped at the last event. c. Faith Based Outreach Chairman Caruso discussed attending the last CPR with 6stones 5. Council Liaison Report No report. 6. Staff Liaison Report Ms. Jakubik discussed the passage of the bond election for Phase Next. ADJOURNMENT Motioned by Margaret Hall, seconded by Mary Frazior. Consider approval of the following Cultural Commission minutes: a) October 9, 2017 regular meeting NEW BUSINESS 4. Discussion of 2018 Cultural Commission goals. 5. Discussion and update on PhaseNext bond. 6. Discussion and presentation of 80th Anniversary of Orson Wells’ War of Worlds play and potential events by Mike Hathaway. 7. Discussion, updates and possible action on upcoming Central Arts of Bedford activities and other art/cultural programming including Cutefest, Artsfest, Twilight Concerts, Storefront art exhibits, and Chalk Walk.
