Discussion...
City Attorney Hoerner stated this proposed ordinance has already been approved through Health
and Housing which vacant properties are registered with the city and there are plans that will be
put into effect and overseen by the Health and Housing Director to improve those vacant
properties and to keep them up to code.
This will identify a vacant building that is unoccupied, unsecure and in violation of city
ordinance.
There is a registration for vacant properties and the city will determine if the property meets the
criteria. This is an attempt to address the problem with the homeowner. They will have to
submit a plan to bring it up to code. This will not apply to a house for sale or unoccupied; it will
only address to those that are considered a nuisance.
