APPROVED ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS MEETING MINUTES for Aug. 28, 2014 Members: Rebecca Boyer Present Tim Price Present Don Rockwell Present Patrick Sullivan Present Toni Togias Present Steven Zimmerman Present Dan Nollman, Chairman Present Staff present: Brian Flynn Elle Davis Emily Fultz Aldermen present: Alderman White, Alderman Hult Public present: none The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Chairman Dan Nollman. Roll called, quorum declared. Chairman Nollman noted that all Zoning Board cases heard at this meeting will be considered at the September 15, 2014 City Council meeting. Chairman Nollman asked for a motion to approve the minutes of July 24, 2014 & the Special Meeting minutes of August 11, 2014. Don Rockwell made a motion to APPROVE the July 24, 2014 minutes and seconded by Patrick Sullivan with all present members voting aye. Motion carried. Rebecca Boyer made a motion to APPROVE the August 11, 2014 Special Meeting minutes and seconded by Toni Togias with all present members voting aye. Motion carried. -------------------------------------------------------------------- 53-Aug14 – Gregg Crawford – Requesting a Special Use permit for eight (8) high-end 1 & 2 bedroom residential units at 126 West A St. located in a C-2 Heavy Commercial Zoning District. (Applicable portion of zoning code: 60-6-50) The applicant explained the request stating that 90% of the work is completed, there are eight (8) parking spaces available as well as on street parking and some exterior lighting will be added. Lastly, Mr. Crawford stated that he has pre-leased agreements with five (5) tenants. With no further questions or comments and no one in the audience to speak in favor or against the case, Chairman Nollman asked for a motion. Toni Togias made a motion to APPROVE the request and seconded by Rebecca Boyer with all present members voting aye. Motion carried. 54-Aug14 – Adam Nordmoe/Peachy Yogurt Bar, LLC, d/b/a Junction – Requesting a Sign Installation Permit for Area of Special Control in order to place one projecting, non illuminated sign totaling 9.7 sq. ft. located at 200B E. Main St. in a C-2 Heavy Commercial Zoning District. (Applicable portion of sign code: 53-4-6) The applicant explained the request stating that the sign shows the new business name and logo. With no questions or comments and no one in the audience to speak in favor or against the case, Chairman Nollman asked for a motion. Steve Zimmerman made a motion to APPROVE the request and seconded by Rebecca Boyer with all present members voting aye. Motion carried. ~1~ 55-Aug14 – Laura Spelbring/Turned Treasures Gallery – Requesting a Sign Installation Permit for Area of Special Control in order to place one (1) flush mounted, non illuminated sign totaling 48 sq. ft and one (1) flush mounted, non illuminated sign totaling 20 sq. ft. at 225 E. Main St. located in a C-2 Heavy Commercial Zoning District. (Applicable portion of sign code: 53-4-6) The applicant explained the request stating that the longer sign will be in front of the business and the shorter one will be on the side of the building and it will be made of aluminum with vinyl covering. Ms. Spelbring noted that the upstairs portion of the business will be consignment and downstairs will be used for woodturning classes. Alderman Hult expressed her excitement for the business to open. With no further questions or comments and no one in the audience to speak in favor or against the case, Chairman Nollman asked for a motion. Don Rockwell made a motion to APPROVE the request and seconded by Patrick Sullivan with all present members voting aye. Motion carried.
