Call to Order- Ralph began the meeting at 10:00 am 2. Approval of Minutes - April 16, 2026 * Reagan Motioned to approve the minutes as submitted. Helen seconded. All in favor, motion carried 5-0 OLD BUSINESS 3. Final Tree Canopy Assessment & Reforestation Plan * • Small updates made to plan. Tyler O. discussed T2 (rural) – T6 (urban) landscape needs and requirements. Gulizar asked if this applied to private or public planting projects, Tyler said all but that partnerships would be needed for plantings on private property. • Gulizar motioned to approve. Mark seconded the motion. All in favor, motion passed 7-0. 4. Native and Pollinator Landscape Ordinance Update • Shelli met with Mayor, who requests to take this to discussion with City Council (next Tuesday 6/23 at 6 pm). • Main concern is capacity for enforcement. Gulizar asks, considering the city’s growth, if there should be more staffing/new positions. Others agree. Proposition of volunteer- based enforcement is brought forward by Mark, Shelli says city cannot do that for legal purposes. • Reagan asks how many cases would be impacted by this ordinance. So far, there has only been one official case, but there is knowledge of more landscapes in town and  anticipation of more in coming years. NEW BUSINESS 5. Fall Tree Giveaway • Will be held October 10, 2026. Ralph asked if there was a list, Baylea reached out to 4 vendors and is waiting on quotes. 6. Landscape Nominations – one received • Baylea shared that posts have been made to spread awareness and traction for more nominations. A new link will be sent out as well. • Submission form is preferred (as opposed to by email) and nominations should be sent by Mondays prior to board meetings. • Helen motioned to award to 1106 NW 11th St. Mark seconded. All in favor, motion passed 7- 0. OTHER BUSINESS 7. Parks Updates • Tyler H. shared updates on new Parks Maintenance building – rebuilt greenhouse and added on. Also shared that 8th St Gateway Park will be fully opened by end of year, with 1st of 3 phases completed by summer. • Reagan asked for updates on 8th St tree plantings, Shelli says she hasn’t received an invoice yet. Likely waiting until the fall to plant. • Hailey shared information on new (temporary?) artistic light installation project created by Thaden students in Orchard Park. 8. Planning Updates • None other than updates on Tree Canopy Assessment. 9. Other • Mark brings up invasive Tree of Heaven is obstructing roadways, specifically NW A St. Discussion of invasive species is brought up, Gulizar asks how the city will tackle this issue. Reagan proposes marrying this issue with the City’s “Clean the Streets” campaign. Shelli and Tyler H. agree this is worth more future discussion. • Ralph proposed meeting with other cities’ boards to learn from. Shelli said the department will look into it. ADJOURNMENT Reagan motioned to adjourn. Jeannie seconded. All in favor, motion carried 7-0. Not all of the plants are in flower yet." We actually nicknamed him the Yard Guy…He's always working in his yard or making landscaping improvements. One time he didn’t like how it looked and dug it all up (like his WHOLE yard)." "He also has fescue instead of Bermuda." Address: 107 Somerset Street Comments: "This is year 5 of converting the front to ALL Arkansas Native. The growth has been wonderful to see." Address: 1700 Mystic Avenue Comments: "Lynn and David Bussiere are an amazing husband and wife team at keeping up their gardens, lawn and overall look of their home in Windemere Woods. It is a wonderful home to have at our entrance. I have wanted to nominate them for years, and am finally getting to it this year. They are so hard-working and deserving of recognition from the City of Bentonville."
