Meeting called to order at 7:10PM
Roll Call of Members
• In attendance were Paul Lanzikos, Police Chief John Lelacheur, Kitia Fisher, Mindy Dippolito,
Paul Goodwin, Gabrielle Montevecchi, Leah Jones
• Guest, member of the public: Kate Jorgenson

Review and Approval of February Meeting Minutes
Recap of recent events
• Wangari Fahari has been named the new City of Beverly Director of Equity and Inclusion . We
welcome her into her new role and look forward to partnering with her in our work in the
community.
• Leah suggested that we plan an "on boarding" meeting with Wangari in order to provide her
with historical information on the work of this committee as well as help bring her up to
date on upcoming events on the HRC annual calendar
• Chief Lalacheur additionally commented that Wangari will be invited to any upcoming
department head meetings as well
Discussion
• Leah proposed writing a public statement in recognition of Trans Visibility Day this
month. Gabrielle suggested that this could be a joint proposal including BPS. Leah will
work on drafting this statement and Gabrielle offered to assist in the writing.
• Discussion of-Beverly Pride events. Proposed date of June 2 for Pride flag raising at City
Hall and the first week of June for BPS.
• Proposal by Paul Lanzikos to host an upcoming meeting at the Council on Aging. The city
welcomes Chris Gomez Farewell as the new Director of The Council on Aging.
• On March 10th the MAH RC will host a discussion of the acknowledgement of Indigenous
Peoples Day
• Discussion of HRC finance, the current account balance is $1,314.
• Discussion of the cost of maintaining the website. Kitia proposed presenting receipts
from the cost of the year long website maintenance to the city for reimbursement
• Any donations to HRC must go through the City Clerk and approved by City Council in
order to be added to the budget
Upcoming events
• 3/30 Transgender Visibility Day
o Gabrielle shared a flier with the HRC members with information on the upcoming
Danvers Trans Visibility event.
• 4/3 World Autism Awareness Day, flier has been circulated amongst all the Beverly Public
Schools. Paul will share this flier on the HRC website
• 4/30 Black Excellence SK
o The SK is the main fund raiser for the Northshore Juneteenth Association
https://north-shore-juneteenth-assoc.constantcontactsites.com/ We would like to
register a BHRC run team and recruit people to run with us that day
• June 2 (proposed date} Beverly Pride Flag Raising at City Hall
Open BHRC positions
• We currently have 4 open positions. Joscelyn will check on the past applicants(Sheri Heller, Purvi
Harley and Kehinde Okeke} to make sure to make sure they are being considered by Mayor Cahill

o This meeting takes place on the unceded ancestral lands of the NaumKeag and
Pawtucket bands of the Massachusett Tribe, from whom the commonwealth of
Massachusetts took its name. With deep respect and gratitude, we thank the
indigenous caretakers of these lands and waters, who have lived here for
thousands of years.
