Blaine City Hall City of Blaine 10801 Town Sq Dr NE Blaine MN 55449 Anoka County, Minnesota Minutes City Council The Mayor has signed a declaration allowing members of the council, staff, and the public to attend the meeting remotely via Zoom due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Public comments may be submitted prior to the meeting by sending an email to PublicComment@BlaineMN.gov or by calling 763-717-2782 no later than Noon on Monday December 14. Public comment will also be taken during the meeting remotely via Zoom. Members of the public can join the Zoom webinar at, https://blainemn.zoom.us/j/93077526252 Thursday, November 12, 2020 2:00 PM Council Chambers and due to the COVID-19 pandemic, city meetings will also be held as virtual meetings 1. CALL TO ORDER BY THE MAYOR The meeting was called to order at 2:00 p.m. by Mayor Ryan followed by Roll Call. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic this meeting was held virtually and in person. 2. ROLL CALL Quorum Present. ALSO PRESENT: Communications Manager Ben Hayle; and City Clerk Catherine Sorensen. Present: 5 - Mayor Ryan, Councilmember Swanson, Councilmember Jeppson, Councilmember Robertson and Councilmember Paul Absent: 2 - Councilmember Hovland and Councilmember Garvais 3. NEW BUSINESS 3.-1 CANVASS OF 2020 CITY GENERAL ELECTION Attachments: Election Judge Report Voting Precincts Map Blaine Abstract- General Blaine - November 3, 2020 General Election Statistics Spreadsheet Blaine Results Report - General City Clerk Sorensen reviewed a summary of the 2020 general election results for the offices of Mayor and Councilmember for Ward 1, Ward 2 and Ward 3. It was noted the election canvass complies with the requirements set forth in the City City of Blaine Page 1 City Council Minutes November 12, 2020 Charter and declared the successful candidates as follows: Tim Sanders; Ward 1 - Jason Smith; Ward 2 - Julie Jeppson; and Ward 3 - Chris Massoglia. She thanked staff and election judges for their assistance during the recent election and detailed absentee voting that occurred during general election. Moved by Councilmember Jeppson, seconded by Mayor Ryan, that Motion 20-122, “Canvass of 2020 City General Election,” be approved. Motion adopted unanimously. Aye: 5 - Mayor Ryan, Councilmember Swanson, Councilmember Jeppson, Councilmember Robertson and Councilmember Paul 5, ADJOURNMENT Moved by Mayor Ryan, seconded by Councilmember Swanson, to adjourn the meeting at 2:11 p.m. A roll call vote was taken.
