Thursday, November 7, 2013 6:30 PM Cloverleaf Farm Room A Meeting Number 13-55 NOTICE OF WORKSHOP MEETING The meeting was called to order by Mayor Ryan at 7:10 p.m. Quorum Present. ALSO PRESENT: Clark Arneson, City Manager; Patrick Sweeney, City Attorney; Bryan Schafer, Planning Director; Bob Therres, Public Services Manager; Joe Huss, Finance Director; Chris Olson, Police Chief/Safety Services Manager; Roark Haver, Communications Technician; and Jane Cross, City Clerk, Recording Secretary Linda Dahlquist. Present: 6 - Councilmember Kolb, Councilmember Bourke, Councilmember Herbst, Mayor Ryan, Councilmember Hovland, and Councilmember Swanson Absent: 1 - Councilmember Clark 1.0 WS 13-68 DISCUSSION ON GABE’S (Fogerty Arena) SIGN IN CIY RIGHT OF WAY Sponsors: Therres Public Services Manager Therres stated Fogerty is asking for the brown sign covering Gabe’s Rink Side Grill to be removed. Rob Hall, Fogerty Manager, stated Fogerty has decided not to pursue the blue logo signs and would like the brown sign covering removed. Councilmember Swanson asked what would stop other restaurants for asking for similar signs. Public Services Manager Therres replied the brown sign is a directional sign is a State Program by MnDOT. Mr. Hall commented Gabe’s only manages the restaurant, but the equipment is owned by Fogerty. Councilmember Kolb stated Gabe’s is a brand and having the name on the sign is marketing. Councilmember Herbst stated Fogerty had to go to MnDOT to get the directional sign. He stated others would have to go to MnDOT as well to get directional signs. Councilmember Hovland asked about directional signage for TPC and the National Sports Center. Public Services Manager Therres replied the brown signs are directional. He stated the National Sports Center has advertising signs on their own property, not public right-of-way. Mr. Hall asked if the sign could say Rink Side Grill. Councilmember Kolb stated Gabe’s is a brand, but Rink Side Grill is not a brand. City Manager Arneson stated this item will be on the agenda for the Council meeting on November 21, 2013.
