EDA
The purpose of the Blaine Economic Development Authority
is to increase the City’s commercial/industrial tax base,
provide employment opportunities, undertake redevelopment
to enhance and maintain neighborhood economic stability,
and address special needs, such as senior housing. As
authorized under Minnesota State statutes, the Blaine City
Council also serves as the Blaine Economic Development
Authority.

The meeting was called to order at 7:15 p.m. by President Ryan followed by
the Roll Call.

Engineer Jean Keely; Public Safety Manager/Police Chief Chris Olson;
Finance Director Joe Huss; Communications Technician Roark Haver; Senior
Engineering Technician Al Thorp; City Clerk Catherine Sorensen ; and
Recording Secretary Linda Dahlquist.

BLAINE PROMOTIONAL ACTIVITIES AT THE 2014
3M CHAMPIONSHIP GOLF EVENT

Planning and Community Development Director Schafer stated the City
annually hosts a skybox at the 3M Championship and uses it as an economic
development tool to highlight the industrial and commercial opportunities for
business in Blaine.

4-2 EDA RES 14-07 APPROVING THE TRANSFER OF 2.44 ACRES OF
WETLAND CREDITS FROM THE BLAINE EDA
WETLAND BANK TO THE CITY OF BLAINE FOR
AQUATORE PARK BALL FIELD RECONSTRUCTION
Sponsors: Schafer
Planning and Community Development Director Schafer stated the relocation
of the ball field at Aquatore Park has defined a wetland impact that is not
practical to mitigate. He stated staff is asking the EDA to purchase 2.44 acres
of wetland credits. He commented that approximately 55 acres will be
available once the bank is completed.
