EDA
The purpose of the Blaine Economic Development Authority
is to increase the City’s commercial/industrial tax base,
provide employment opportunities, undertake redevelopment
to enhance and maintain neighborhood economic stability,
and address special needs, such as senior housing. As
authorized under Minnesota State statutes, the Blaine City
Council also serves as the Blaine Economic Development
Authority.

The meeting was called to order at 7:22 p.m. by President Ryan followed by
the Roll Call.

POWERS OF A HOUSING REDEVELOPMENT
AUTHORITY, TO LEVY TAXES UPON THE TAXABLE
PROPERTY IN THE CITY OF BLAINE FOR
COLLECTION FOR THE YEAR 2015
Sponsors: Huss
Finance Director Huss stated the EDA budget was discussed at the Truth In
Taxation meeting. He stated the revised budget has a reduction to the
property tax levy of $140,000 and removal of the 3M Tournament and Blaine
Business Appreciation. He noted these items could be funded from the sale of
the senior buildings. He stated the original levy was $342,150.
EDA discussion on the timing of the sale of the senior buildings. City
Manager Arneson noted the closing is expected to be in April. He
commented the EDA does have some working capital.
Commissioner Hovland suggested keeping the proposed EDA budget.
President Ryan agreed.
EDA discussion on funds from the sale of the senior buildings.
