As authorized under Minnesota State statutes, the Blaine City Council also serves as the Blaine Economic Development Authority. Aye 6 - Commissioner Clark Commissioner King President Ryan Commissioner Swanson Commissioner Jeppson Commissioner Garvais 4 New Business City of Blaine Page 1 EDA Minutes December 7, 2017 4-1 APPROVING A RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT FOR THE CROWN IRON WORKS PROJECT AND USE OF TAX INCREMENT FINANCING Attachments: City of Blaine Info Economic Development Coordinator Thorvig stated at the November 9th workshop, a presentation was made by Mortenson Construction and Crown Iron Works to locate their global headquarters to Blaine. The developer and business have requested assistance from the City in the amount of $1.2 million to close a project financial gap that exists. Staff proposed this to be funded by a combination of existing pooled TIF resources and a new Economic Development TIF District. In general, the proposal was well received by the EDA/City Council and direction was given to staff to move forward. The company has asked for a formal Resolution so they can finalize their deal with Mortenson and other involved parties. Moved by Commissioner Clark, seconded by Commissioner Jeppson, that Resolution No. 17-14, “Approving a Resolution of Support for the Crown Iron Works Project and Use of Tax Increment Financing,” be approved.
