A quorum of the City Council may be in attendance; however, no City Council votes will be taken.  CITY OF BLUE SPRINGS, MISSOURI MINUTES OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL MEETING WEDNESDAY, JUNE 15, 2022 A meeting of the Blue Springs Economic Development Council was held at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, in the Administration Training Room of Blue Springs City Hall, 903 W. Main Street with Chair Becky Nace presiding. CONFIRMATION OF Becky Nace, Chair Erika Lucas - Absent QUORUM Joey Zarrillo, Vice Chair Kirk Sampson Justin Beal – Absent Lyle Shaver – Absent Ann Benson Robin Terry-Revels Kirk Lair Lara Vermillion STAFF & City Councilmember Susan Culpepper, City Administrator Mike Ekey, OTHER ATTENDEES Assistant City Administrator Christine Cates, and City Clerk Sheryl Morgan were also in attendance. CALL MEETING ORDER Chair Nace called the meeting to order at 8:00 a.m. New member Ann Benson introduced herself to the Council. APPROVE APRIL 20, Member Lair moved to approve the minutes of the April 20, 2022 2022 MINUTES meeting of the Economic Development Council. Motion seconded by Member Vermillion and carried unanimously. INTRODUCTION OF CITY New City Administrator, Mike Ekey, introduced himself to the Council. ADMINISTRATOR ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF City Clerk Sheryl Morgan distributed copies of the Rules of Procedure RULES OF PROCEDURE which were reviewed with the Board at the April 20, 2022 meeting. Each member present signed an acknowledgment of receipt of the Rules, which include the attendance policy. MEETING SCHEDULE City Administrator Mike Ekey requested the Council approve a change in the time of future meetings to start at 8:15, rather than 8:00. The City Hall doors automatically open at 8:00, and most members are arriving prior to 8:00 and unable to access the building. The remaining meetings in 2022 are on August 17, October 19, and December 21. USE TAX City Administrator Mike Ekey reviewed information on the Use Tax question on the August 2, 2022 ballot. ELECTION OF LIAISON Member Lair moved to appoint Robin Terry-Revels to serve as the TO DOWNTOWN ALIVE! Economic Development Council liaison to the board of the Blue Springs BOARD Downtown Alive! board. Motion seconded by Member Zarrillo and carried unanimously. The meetings are held of the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 8:00 a.m. at Pizza Shoppe in downtown Blue Springs. June 15, 2022 Economic Development Council Page 2 PROJECT UPDATES City Administrator Mike Ekey stated he will be focusing on the hiring of the Economic Development Manager after discussion and review of priorities with the City Council. NEXT MEETING The next meeting of the Council will be Wednesday, August 17, 2022. ADJOURNMENT At 8:23 a.m. there was no further business to come before the Economic Development Council, Member Terry-Revels moved the meeting be adjourned.
