Program/Activity Spotlight: Derek presented on park maintenance spotlight. There are some new goals. It is
important to be more visible to the community. This will also help with putting a face the maintenance team who
work very hard to take care of all our parks. Staff is task-oriented to get each designated location finished. There are
also some fun new changes added to the maintenance spotlight. Teams of 2 allow each staff member to draw for
which team they are on and then create a list of tasks to accomplish. Staff in turn feel more involved in the process
of getting the tasks accomplished. Derek then discussed the Art Piece Landscape Renovation on Adams Dairy. Some
challenges staff has come across are people who find spaces to sleep in this area and have tendencies to leave their
items there. Overgrowth and getting the area back in maintenance order was also an important task. The goals now
for this area is to improve the aesthetics, continue maintenance, and reduce “hiding spots.” There has been a lot of
help along the way on this renovation between parks team, Brummel Lawn Care, and public art commission.
Finances: None.
Staff Reports: Staff reviewed their reports.

Chapel Park Playground, James Walker Park basketball court, Rotary Park Gazebo, Ward Park pickleball courts,
Rotary Park wheelchair swing, Grounds Park trail loop, and many more. There are less projects on the list in
FY2022-23 however, it still provides significant community impact. The Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Blue
Springs Aquatic Center will be held November 3, 2022.
