Review and edit the draft version of the vision statement for the Blue Springs Public Art
Commission: Taskforce members further discussed the proposed Vision Statement. An agreed upon
revised version is the following: To be the source/promoter of public cultural arts that reflects and
enriches our community. Vs: To be the generator/accelerator for public and cultural arts that
both reflects and enriches our community.
Justin suggested that the taskforce inform the full Public Art Commission Board of this Vision statement
at the January PAC meeting.
Roscoe reported that he has updated the excel document work in progress that reflects the data from the
PAC review of old files
Define citizen “Listening Group” locations and timetables for development of the final Vision
Statement: Kyle was asked to schedule a brief presentation of the taskforce efforts to obtain business
input regarding future cultural arts needs of the Blue Springs community. The earliest would be the
March 19 meeting at the golf course. Jeff will be asked to do the same for the Rotary Club meeting at the
Conference Center. Suggested contents for the presentation could be a Public Art map, cartoon
pamphlet, email address for inquiries.
For the purpose of how the taskforce can best engage “Listening Groups”, it was suggested that the task
force would engage citizens using the current city districting boundaries. Each district’s potential
meeting sites were selected as candidates per the following:
District 3: Johnny’s Tavern, Chinese Restaurant meeting space, South Mid-Continent Library
District 2: CJC Training Facility, Vesper Hall, Public Safety Building meeting room
District 1: Burr Oaks meeting space, North Mid-Continent Library, Blue Springs Movie Theater, Point
of Hope Church meeting facilities
Each district council representative will be invited to the meetings. To publicize the meetings, an email
will be sent out to HOA’s for their newsletters. Further means may be City TV Channel, City Facebook
page, City website, news release, and Chamber newsletter.
Ramon will contact potential meeting sites and email HOA’s. Kyle will draft a pamphlet.
