Selection Panel meeting for “Regenerate” temporary art exhibit
The Selection Panel was introduced consisting of the jurors for “Regenerate” and the Public Art Commission
members. Ramon gave an overview of the process. He explained that 54 artists applied through CAFÉ and the
jurors were then asked to evaluate the artists based on their body of work, resume, and statement of interest.
Based on the evaluations, the top five artists were identified for further interview by the jurors. The purpose of
this meeting was to interview the 5 artist finalists.
During the interviews, each artist expressed their proposed artwork for the exhibit. The artists were:
Hilde De Bruyne
Amie Jacobsen
Mark Chew
Jake Balcolm
Sally Myers
Following the phone interviews, the jurors discussed the merits of each artist and proposed artwork. The PAC
members were given an opportunity to express their view of the artists and proposed artworks after which a
selection by ballot by the jurors determined the four artists were (vote score in parenthesis) Myers(29),
Jacobsen(27), Balcom(26), DeBruyne(12) and the alternate was Chew(11). Following this recommendation from
the jury panel, a motion was made by Ramon and seconded by Jeff to approve the recommendation of Myers,
Jacobsen, Balcom, and DeBruyne as the artists for the “Regenerate” temporary art exhibit with Chew being the
alternate. Motion passed unanimously. Justin will contact the artists and alternate and indicate next steps in
regards to contracts.
Additional information will be needed in order to determine the final art options from each artist as well as the
placement of the proposed artworks. Ramon and Justin will schedule an additional meeting at Colonial Gardens
for this purpose. Contracts will be arranged with each artist.
