“Seasons” 14th Temporary Art Exhibit
- Eleanor suggested that the existing money in the Public Art account would be available to purchase art
until sufficient funds have been raised and then the account reimbursed. She indicated that careful
consideration should be made in any purchase to assure donor support as well as the future cost of
maintenance.
- “Seasons” Dedication is Thursday, June 20th, at 5:30pm at the Adams Pointe Golf Course Clubhouse.
- Kathy Cornelius, Kamera Meaney and Taylor Beller were appointed to plan the menu for refreshments
and to coordinate with Justin on cost. Eleanor has requested the $100 the Blue Springs Art League
donates toward the reception.
- Justin has the necessary information to create the brochure. The PAC will use the same format at previous
years with updated information about this exhibit and the invites to the public. The brochure and mailing
list should be sent to the printer by June 3rd.
- Eleanor presented a check for $1,000 to the PAC. It was a grant she had written from MACAA to cover
some of the expenses of the “Seasons” exhibit, including brochure and mailing costs, plaques,
refreshment expenses, and art boards.
Veteran’s Way Memorial
- No new details were shared regarding the signage for the Memorial. As more information is gathered,
placement will be determined by Parks staff.
- Flags will be placed along the walkways of the Memorial from May 24th – 28th. Eleanor requested that the
large City flags be placed on these dates as well.
- Justin reported that he had been contacted by an Eagle Scout to complete a project for the Memorial
which would consist of a special box to receive any damaged flags that should not be flows as described
in flag etiquette.
Status/Information/Updates
--Veterans Way Memorial Flyer—no additional information
--Art Maintenance Update. Ramon reported that maintenance care will occur as weather permits. He has
contracts ready to go for several of the maintenance projects.
--Plaques. Eleanor provided Ramon with plaque information for all the artworks that do not have plaques. She
felt it was important that every artwork should have a plaque that states the name of the art, the artists, the donors
and date of installation. Arrangements to place new plaques should be coordinated with Parks staff.
-- The Mayor received $100 check from Bill and Nancy Cox who requested that it be used to recognize the
retirement of PAC Chair Eleanor Fraiser in future artwork. Eleanor asked that the next artwork purchased include
their names as donors.
