Minutes of a Regular Public Art Commission Meeting
June 12, 2024
A regular meeting of the Blue Springs Public Art Commission was held on Wednesday, June 12 2024 at 3:30pm
at the Fieldhouse. The Chairman called the meeting to order.

A motion was made by Cydney and seconded by Ramon to accept the Minutes of the May meeting as presented;
it passed unanimously.
Financial Report. The financial report was available for review. There were no questions
“Seasons” 14th Temporary Art Exhibit
- Taylor reviewed the dedication event, scheduled for June 20th. She assigned various PAC members artist
statement reading parts.
- The program was reviewed amongst members. Staff stated this would be printed in-house and available
night of.
- Large prints of the temporary art will be at the event.
Veteran’s Way Memorial
- Rock Howell will begin next week with taking drone shots of the Memorial. PAC members will review
before the images are sent to the designer.
- Justin explained that the recent storm wiped out the flag poles, but staff do have extra on hand they will
be replaced.
- All flags will be out for the 4th of July holiday.
Status/Information/Updates
- Ramon presented on the 5-year plan for maintenance that was approved by City Council. He explained
there are funds available in the “Spring for Art” fund within the PAC budget. He received three quotes for
12 pieces of art to be power washed throughout the City, restoration work at “Skateboarder” at Old Mill
Park and conservation cleaning at the Veteran’s Way Memorial.
Ramon went over other pieces throughout the City that needed maintenance and discussed some pieces
that need to be retired as their repairs and unfixable.
A motion was made by Ramon and seconded by Elizabeth to fund the power washing for the 13 pieces.
A motion was made by Cydney and seconded by Elizabeth to fund the restoration work at
“Skateboarder”.
A motion was made by Cydney and seconded by Elisabeth to fund the conservation cleaning at Veteran’s
Way Memorial.
All three motions passed unanimously.
- Staff will begin on contracts with the three companies to complete the work.
Future Public Art Commission meeting times:
- Staff recommended moving the start time of monthly PAC meetings from 3:30pm to 4:00pm. PAC
members agreed that moving the meeting to 4:00-5:00pm was the best decision.

As there was no further business, a motion for adjournment was made by Cydney and seconded by
Elizabeth. Meeting was adjourned at 5:00pm
