BLUFFDALE ARTS ADVISORY BOARD MEETING AGENDA
Saturday, September 8, 2018
Notice is hereby given that the Bluffdale Arts Advisory Board will hold a meeting Saturday, September 8, 2018 at the Bluffdale
City Hall, 2222 West 14400 South, Bluffdale, Utah, scheduled to begin promptly at 8:00 a.m., or as soon thereafter as
possible.
REGULAR BUSINESS MEETING
1. Roll Call
2. Discussion/Report on:
- New Board Members – who knows Alice Slaughter? I have an application for her. Andrea Hales
has also expressed interest.
- Incredibly fun Arts/Music Festival
- Amazing production of Swing
o How did the new ticket things work?
- New Sound Equipment
- Upcoming Shows and how to help with South Pacific
- Broadway Attire for Hire donation to the Arts Board of costumes and props
o Help with organizing, moving and inventorying.
o Do we want to continue rental costumes?
o Can we hire a person to do that?
o What should the financial arrangements for that be?
- Saverns - Dance

Bluffdale Arts Advisory Board Meeting
Saturday, September 8, 2018
1. Meeting was called to order at approximately 8: 15 am. Those present were: Laura
Garner, Angelle Anderson , Scott Stanley, Leroy Nelson, Amanda Luker, Melanie
Gonzalez and MaryAnn Dunn. Lynn Farley arrived later in the meeting.
2. No minutes to approve.
3. Following items were discussed/reported on :
a. New Board Member. Alice Slaughter sent in application. A girl talked to Scott.
Andrea Hales has also expressed interest. Laura will contact Alice and Andrea.
Angelle planning on going on mission in February or March. W ill need to fill her
spot too . Scott to contact the gal who talked to him .
b. Arts & Music Festival. Board for display was also used in Swing. $400 for 15 ft.
Used for front facing . Easily used to double entries. Lots of kids participated .
Need to communicate with school 's Arts teachers. Scott posted pies on
Facebook. Need to send to Lynn to post on website. Need to post in South Valley
news about a month before. Agreed to open to participants from all cities. Wou ld
need temp walls or other alternative for more people. Sponsorship for prizes?
Post cards or artist information next to artwork? Maryann and the Battle of the
Bands. Maryann would like to give someone else an opportunity to run the music
festival. Friday night had a great turnout for perfo rming. Change the lineup and
incorporate adults throughout. Not just in the end . Did run a little long. Maybe
more of a talent show?
c. Old West Days. Photo booth needs to be moved to have better access to
everyone.
d. Swing. Every night continued to get better. Had to purchase a few costumes .
Cost $13,000 to put on. Cleaning bill was a lot as many costumes were used.
Malinda and Kerry did amazing ! Nate & Richie did awesome choreographing.
Minimal set. Band was awesome. New ticket is awesome ! Super easy to use.
Being able to take cards helped . Purchased a new system for about $2,000
which has made everything easier. Hoping to have the pick you seat available
soon . Easy to give refunds. Roses sold out fast. Had to turn people away.
e. New Sound Equipment: Purchased for $5,000 because T Mobile bought all the
frequencies for microphones. In January ours won't work.
f. South Pacific. Still n~ed Sea bees and Nurses. October 11th thru 13th. New
Bluffdale Middle School will be built with a great auditorium and we will be using
it. Should be ready for next school year. Possibly Les Mis for opening at new
Auditorium .
g. Costumes. All of Laura 's costumes are being donated to Arts Board and will be
stored in basement of City Hall for now. Hire someone to do the renta ls. Need to
work out the contract and details. Need to take this to Mayor Ti mothy. La ura
proposed to present to the City. Leroy seconded . Votes : Amanda Luker, Leroy
Nelson, Scott Stanley, Lynn Farley, Angelle Anderson Ayes. Unanimous in the
vote. Laura will take to the City.
h. Severn's Dance. Unsure if it will start up again. Everyone was hopeful.
i. Reviewed who all received shirts.
J. Scarlet Pimpernel. End of March or beginning of April.
4. Next meeting scheduled for Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 9:00 a.m.
5. Meeting adjourned at 8:55 a.m.
