• Ruth- take pictures, to put in Bluffdale Times. Suggest on website put past BAAB activities-to

Scott: ask if ok to buy gift cards as prizes for art show? BAAB approves
• Ruth: likes a ribbon or certificate for all participants of art show
• Scott: and ribbons for honorable mentions
Ruth asks what is BAAB style of awards?
• Marianne: it is interesting to see what the judges thought of the artwork, likes to see awards next
to the art. An award for everyone doesn't really mean a winner of anything.
• Ruth: don't need to put a participation ribbon of the art, but give it as they pick up own art. Can
even put it on resumes.
Kelsha: even marathons give participation plus 1st, 2nd, 3rd place awards
• Kryssi- how to not make this more clutter in their homes. What to give that is more meaningful.
Keep award small such as a little card with info
• Scott- likes an award because artists have used it on their own resumes.
Scott- they will put a card with info next to artwork. They'll figure it out.
Parade Float
• Ruth can help with that
• Laura & Chuck are Grand Marshals of parade
• Ruth needs help for park art project on Town Days
• BAAB not doing old fashioned pictures

• Dates: Saturday, August 13. About 9:30 to 5pm
• Set up night before. Whole day project.
• Need two hour shifts to help with the day.
• Ruth making this really simple. Needs donations from IKEA, ask city for letter for donations. Need
easels.
• Laura is thinking storage would be a problem with easels. But maybe a board with legs, make long
so all many kids can use at same time.
• Ruth- project to paint anything they want. But this year Will use tables. Paint paper ice cream
cones. After painting can decorate with glitter, etc. then hang up on clothesline to dry.
Kryssi: Will there be any upcoming publicity for upcoming shows?
Laura: combine on one flyer upcoming shows plus art show
Laura: Send to UPS for a large poster, bigger than 1 lxi 7
• Ruth: one poster saying "GOT ART? Call for entries"
• Laura will send over to UPS.
• Scott will design it and send it back to Laura
Laura: Report on Shrek and Forever Plaid
Plaid-
Kerry: ton of fun, went well, small crowd in beginning, always had about 40-50 each night.
Facilities went well.
• Dinner event, everyone liked it and said they'd pay for it.
• Laura & Marianne agree it was awesome
• Marianne- thinks again
• Laura says let's plan on it again.
• Julie: 1st experience for big production- so much fun!- went well! enjoyable time
• Laura: feedback- was told by school we left auditorium a mess so lost privileges to having food in
auditorium. Anyone know anything about that?
• Julie: said she disagrees with it being messy. She checked auditorium and it was clean. She's
confused with what school said. She asked for help and knew it happened. Julie says last thing she
got from auditorium was the camera and she checked room at that time, and it appeared clean.
Kryssi: can we be stricter about not taking concessions into auditorium? Not allow it. People are
rude about leaving wrappers and food on floor.
• Laura: BAAB made $3000 on concessions minus expenses. How much was that for flowers? Don't
know.
Joanne: people still comment how great Shrek was.
• Laura: ZAP grant in if want to view it in city budget. Sent email out to everyone. Received
$15,000 from city that we haven't used because of covid. $10,000 from costume rentals, plus Holly
Crandall donation. We have a lot of money so city will not be giving us more money this year. We
have enough for what we need, including buying new sound board.
The Importance of Being Earnest
June 9-11, 13.
• Need volunteer sign-ups.
• Marianne will make Google Doc for sign-ups
Arsenic & Old Lace
Julie- need volunteer sign-ups
Marianne- make another Google Doc
Shrek Cast Party-City Park bowery. Laura sent out email of assignments
City put up screen, Julie will bring computer for show.
FYI: Laura is the spokesman between City and BAAB
Laura will check with City of their responsibilities
Les Mis
• Keisha: was not anticipating children ensemble but now they have one and need help with
practicing with children Monday 4-5:00pm
• Has schedule made for the practices?
• Kerry directing first few rehearsals.
• Need costuming done first few weeks of rehearsal because Kelsha will be less available
• Ensemble practices 7-9:00pm Thursdays and some Saturday mornings
• Lead practices will need to navigate practice times and places.
• Julie: Rehearsals will overlap. Need to work schedule with Julie for Arsenic: Tuesday, Wednesday,
Thursday.
Laura suggests getting city community room so practices can take place up and downstairs at same
time. Can use Jan Clark's big room, Laura's front room, Kelsha's house.
• Joanne: offers her basement.
• Julie: is set staying up for both plays?
• Laura: not using same set up with both summer plays.
• Julie offers to do practice outside. Laura says hard to stay focused. Julie prefers practicing at city
hall. Laura will check on availability.
• Keisha: Thursday biggest rehearsal. Dancing, singing, etc.
• Arsensic performs July 7-9, 11. Julie says July 16 and 23rd conflict for rehearsal with Les Miz.
Laura will check with city.
• Kerry will be choreographing wedding scene. Other choreography is really blocking. Kelsha happy
to do it if no one else volunteers.
Parade
Ruth and Laura.
Guys & Dolls
Kelsha cannot direct bc of family needs. Laura will take over directing. Julie offering to help direct,
too. Laura will do it. Spring show.
• Julie needs BAAB calendar so she can work it with school schedule.
• Laura: what shows for next year. Make Google Doc for suggestions of next family play.
• Props help Joanne? Can help in Fall, not summer.
• Joanne reading BAAB text chain of play ideas: Little Shop of Horrors, Oliver, Paint Your Wagon,
Oklahoma, Cinderella, Peter and the Star Catcher, Pippin, Saturday Night in the Park with George,
Legally Blonde, Mary Poppins, Music Man, Seussical, Aladdin, My Fair Lady.
• Laura suggest Seussical because it's fun, (not her favorite- doesn't make a lot of sense to her), but a
lot of kids in it. Worried about not getting enough adults to be in it because it is a kid show. Shrek
had that problem. It is hard for sets, costumes, and clean-ups without enough adults in play.
Laura doesn't like the musical play Mary Poppins because it is dark. Mary Poppins is mean.
• Laura needs help cleaning and organizing in basement. Joanne suggests set a date and call out for
volunteers to help. Be specific.
Next board meeting: July 18, 2022. Monday. 7:00pm. City Hall.
Post meeting discussion:
• Kerry & Melinda help with Guys 'n Dolls. Be happy to choreograph.
• Is now decided Julie will direct Guys 'n Dolls. Laura will direct family play.
• Kerry offers to co-direct with Melinda and Julie. Julie would love to co-direct it.
• Laura will do March show
• Next summer: In the Heights. Laura: Problem with Culture Appropriation? Meaning having
correct representation of the Latino group. Not having enough Latino people in play.
• Kerry: Look in movie. Leads are Latino but melting pot of people for other roles. In The Heights is
about Latino experience in USA.
Laura suggests asking a couple of websites what people think.
Kerry feels mixing in darker skin tones with the lighter tones would be fine.
Kerry would like to teach the Salsa dance for the city to start recruiting actors to be in it.
