MINUTES SPECIAL CALLED CITY COUNCIL MEETING ANNUAL STATE OF THE CITY ADDRESS LUNCHEON THE CANA BALLROOM 202 W Kronkosky Street Boerne, TX 78006 January 17, 2019 – 11:00 AM Minutes of the Special Called City Council Meeting of January 17, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Present: Mayor Mike Schultz, Mayor Pro Tem Nina Woolard, and Council Member Tim Handren. Absent: Council Member Ty Wolosin, Council Member Steven Tye, and Council Member Ron Cisneros. Staff Present: Ron Bowman, Dan Blankenship, Pam Bransford, Lori Carroll, Sandy Mattick, Garrett Robertson, Molly Solis, Laura Talley, Jeff Thompson, and Linda Zartler. Recognized/Registered Guests: Due to the nature of the event, guests did not register. 1. CALL TO ORDER – 11:00 AM Mayor Schultz called the City Council meeting to order at 11:30 a.m. 2. WELCOME Mr. Jacques DuBose, President of the Boerne Chamber of Commerce welcomed everyone to the State of the City. 3. PRAYER AND PLEDGE Mr. DuBose introduced Mr. Steve Mack of the Texas Heritage Bank to provide the Prayer and lead the Pledge of Allegiance to the United States Flag and the Texas Flag. STATE OF THE CITY ADDRESS Ms. Kimberly Blohm, Vice President of Marketing and Membership for the Boerne Chamber of Commerce welcomed everyone in the audience. She recognized the Chamber Ambassadors, the elected officials, Chamber Board Members, and expressed her appreciation to the sponsors who helped make the event possible. Ms. Blohm introduced Mayor Mike Schultz. Mayor Schultz spoke on the accomplishments of the past eight years that he has been in office. He discussed mobility improvements that have been completed and that are in progress; economic development to include sales tax growth and the recruitment of new businesses; the completion of the Master Plan; the new City Hall and Visitors Center that are currently under construction; and the programs and events associated with the Hill Country Mile. Mayor Schultz discussed the various park improvements to include the trail system expansion and the city's financial integrity to include rating agency upgrades, transparency recognition by the Comptroller's Office, the award for Excellence in Financial Reporting for 31 consecutive years, and he boasted that the property taxes for the City have not increased in seven years. Mayor Schultz acknowledged the various partnerships that have helped make these accomplishments succeed. 5. QUESTION AND ANSWER Mayor Schultz and City Manager Ron Bowman responded to questions from the audience. 6. CLOSING REMARKS Ms. Blohm expressed appreciation to those in attendance.
