1. CALL TO ORDER – 5:30 PM
Chairman Boerner called the Historic Landmark Commission to order at
5:31 p.m.
2. CONFLICT OF INTEREST DECLARATION
Commissioner Mainz declared a conflict of interest with items 9, 10, and
11.

3. PUBLIC COMMENTS: This is the opportunity for visitors and guests to address the
Historic Landmark Commission on any issue. The Historic Landmark Commission may
not discuss any presented issue, nor may any action be taken on any issue at this time.

4. CONSENT AGENDA: All items listed below within the Consent Agenda are considered
routine by the Historic Landmark Commission and may be enacted with one motion.
There will be no separate discussion of items unless a Commission Member or citizen
so requests, in which event the item may be moved to the general order of business
and considered in its normal sequence.

PROGRAM (HDIP) APPLICATION FOR 605 SOUTH MAIN (KAD
24150) (DOUBLE R CIGARS/MIKE ZAROUNDNY).
Mr. Paul Barwick, Special Projects Director, presented the Historic District
Improvement Program (HDIP) request for 605 South Main Street.
Chairman Boerner had questions regarding the types of improvements
to be made.
Mr. Barwick explained that improvements would be made to both the
interior and exterior of the building.

Ms. Sara Serra-Bennett, City Planner II, presented the request for a door
located at 111 Rosewood Ave.
Chairman Boerner had questions regarding details of the door, the trees,
and future plans for the existing structure.
Mr. Frank Valadez, SA Partnership Architects, elaborated on these
details.

Ms. Sara Serra-Bennett, City Planner II, presented the request for a post
and panel sign located at 904 South Main Street.
Commissioner Pena had a question regarding the size of the sign as it
relates to the existing post and panel frame.
Mr. Joel Guel Jr., the applicant, explained the size and material details of
the sign.

sign located at 112 East San Antonio Ave.
Chairman Boerner spoke on keeping the colors and design consistent
among all signs for a business.
Discussion ensued between Commissioners about if this business was
part of a franchise. The Commissioners agreed that more information is
needed from the applicant.

Ms. Sara Serra-Bennett, City Planner II, presented the request for a
sidewalk sign located at 112 East San Antonio Ave.
Ms. Patti Mainz, property owner, gave an explanation as to the purpose
of this sidewalk sign.
Commissioner Nichols spoke in opposition of the sign.
Discussion ensued among the Commissioners regarding the consistency
of the colors and sign design.
