Bordentown City Environmental Commission Meeting of May 8, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. in person at Carslake Community Center AGENDA Call to Order Public Meeting Statement (regular meeting held under the provisions of the Open Public Meetings/Sunshine Law; adequate notice has been provided by posting at City Hall and transmitted to the Burlington County Times) Roll Call Approve Meeting Minutes for April 10, 2024 Correspondence (none) Reports and Recap  Planning Board Report (Lynn)  D&R Greenway & Abbott Marshland Reports (see email from Joel)  Creative Team meeting (Dan)  Workday with BRHS students at Hilltop Park (Brooke)  Native Plant Earth Talk (Brooke)  Green Team meeting April 22, 2024 – we identified actions that can be taken in four areas that most people have indicated are a priority: Community Clean Ups; Parks and Trails; Invasive Species; and Recycling. See attached summary, and follow up on a few initiatives below: o Report on April 20 litter clean-up. (email summary sent by Jeff Richardson) o Cigarette butt (and other tobacco products) recycling through TerraCycle, a partnership with the Downtown Business Association (Jim Heupel). BCEC members committed to 2 receptacles. We will not be able to purchase the receptacle through TerraCycle and are looking at alternatives. o Green business awards, specifically recognizing restaurants that are using sustainable/ eco-friendly practices. (Brooke and Katie Ireland) o Green Team participation @ Green Fair o We have changed the Green Team meetings to the third Monday of the month. Discussion Items  Pollinator gardens  Outreach and education at Green Fair – ideas? Information and updates (discussion only if needed)  Banner for City Wide Yard Sale – the old banner was updated with stickers. Cost was $100  Trails Work Group – Potential members have been informed that they must submit a volunteer application.  Invasive Species Remediation – workday changed from May 12 to May 19. Next planning meeting date to be determined.  Green Team – still seeking a Co-chair Upcoming events: May 11 from 9 am to noon paper shredding (Township Public Works yard) May 11 City-wide yard sale May 12 Garden workday May 15 Public Works pizza party May 20 Green Team meeting June 8 10 am to 3 pm Green Fair June 25 Earthtalk – noise pollution Quarterly Check-In Report (Q1 in March, Q2 in June, Q3 in Sept, Q4 in Dec) Representatives of these subcommittees/initiatives will present a status report on a quarterly basis.  Farmer’s Market  Community Garden  Creative Team *****PUBLIC COMMENT**** Adjournment Next meeting: WEDNESDAY, June 12, 2024, at 7:00 pm (Via Zoom)
