July 10, 2024 BCEC meeting minutes Cathy read opening statement Roll call - Cathy Elliott Shaw, Lauren Drumm, Ralph Tolomeo, and Dan Preston We are one short of a quorum (need 5) Could not vote to approve minutes Reports & Recap -Planning board meeting was canceled this month -No updates from Joel regarding Abbott Marshlands Creative Team -Dan reports on May meeting. Main focus is Halloween weekend - pumpkins. Cathy suggests following up with Mayor Jen about who is leading the team and organizing creative team events. Dan will follow up. -Cathy said 2 new people are interested in joining the Creative Team and were directed to the Volunteer application. There was a recent resignation as well. Mike MacEwan joined, making a quorum Noise Pollution Presentation 06/25/24 -Well attended at Old City Hall. Concerns were shared from a variety of viewpoints. Dan talked about what noise pollution is, regulation around it, public health effects, etc. -It is pointed out that follow-up might be prudent - how do we go about dealing with noise pollution in Bordentown City? -Look into past inquiries regarding noise pollution. Green Team - June Meeting Highlights -Kara Parker presented on Girl Scout Gold Award project - fast fashion. Needs letter of support. Needs support for 2 events - clothing swap and fashion show with thrifted/up-cycled clothing. Is this something the Creative Team could be involved with? She would like the fashion show to continue annually. June 30th Park Clean up - knotweed cutting at Oliver Street Second cut in September Followed by treatment Wednesday Morning Weeding -Hilltop Park Pollinator Garden -Lime Kiln -Iris Garden - do we know anyone interested in assisting with maintenance? -Will continue through summer Rain Barrel Workshop July 27th Carly our Watershed Ambassador and Mike MacEwan will be prepping 2 for BCEC giveaways July 29th Potluck Green Team Dinner August 4th Farmer’s Market - family friendly water quality activity with Watershed Ambassador Start CC’ing BCEC members on Green Team emails - let Cathy know if you don’t want to be included. Purchases still pending Trails Committee -At June Commissioner’s meeting there was a resolution to form committee by ordinance. -First reading -July meeting - 2nd reading of ordinance -Members have been appointed but first meeting not yet scheduled Farmer’s Market update - perhaps August or September meeting Community Garden seems to be doing well Next week - park’s committee meeting - Carslake - if you want notice, let Cathy know. Work is underway at Oliver street park putting in pathways and benches. Since we now have quorum, Cathy moves to approve minutes. Minutes approved. Ralph adds that the public works pizza party will be postponed to a Wednesday in September Cranberry Festival - start thinking about a theme? Save the date. Should we take August meeting off? Only big concern is having enough time to coordinate Cranberry Festival.
