PROCEEDINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF BOSSIER CITY STATE OF LOUISIANA TAKEN AT THE SPECIAL MEETING JULY 25, 2017 The City Council of the City of Bossier City, State of Louisiana, met in Special Session in Council Chambers, 620 Benton Road, Bossier City, Louisiana, July 25, 2017, immediately following the Bossier City Council Agenda Meeting at 3:00 PM Council President Jeffery Darby called the meeting to order at 3:16 PM Invocation was given by Council Member Jeffery Darby Pledge of Allegiance led by Council Member Timothy Larkin Roll Call as follows: Present: Honorable Councilor Jeffery Darby, President, Honorable Councilors, David Montgomery, Jr., Timothy Larkin, Jeff Free and Thomas Harvey Absent: Honorable Councilors Scott Irwin and Don Williams Also Present: Mayor, Lorenz Walker, City Attorney, Jimmy Hall and City Clerk, Phyllis McGraw By: Mr. Montgomery, Jr. Motion to approve Agenda. Seconded by Mr. Harvey No comment Vote in favor of motion is unanimous Agenda Item Called: 2017 Property Tax Millage Rates - Stacie Fernandez, Finance Director, reported to Council on the Bossier Parish Assessor having to adjust millage rates and the resulting decrease in collections if the City chooses not to adjust to the proposed higher millage. Council and Mayor discussed what could be consequences of not adjusting rates. Adjustment to the higher millage rate would mean that the City would continue to receive the same amount, in total collections, as in previous years. By: Mr. Montgomery, Jr. Motion to support the Administration's decision, to proceed with the higher adjusted millage rates for their calculations and Ordinance submissions. Seconded by Mr. Free Discussion and clarification about what this vote would do. Vote is only showing supporting of the administration's position on the Millage Rates.
