City of Bowdon Mayor and Council Meeting Monday, July 10, 2023 7:00PM Mayor and Council Chambers, 182 Grammar School Road I.- VI. Agenda Items: The Mayor and City Council met for a regular meeting on Monday, July 10th, 2023. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Jim Chaffin at 7:00PM. Roll call was conducted by City Clerk Susan Pierce. Members present: Mayor Jim Chaffin Mayor Pro-tem Jan Johnson Councilmember Randy Saxon Councilmember Marty Johnson Councilmember Wes McEntyre Staff present: City Manager Gary Bullock City Clerk Susan Pierce Police Chief Mark Brock The Invocation was led by Councilmember McEntyre and was followed with the Pledge of Allegiance. The agenda for this meeting and the minutes for the meetings on June 12 and June 19, 2023 were approved with no objections. VII. Public Comments None. VIII. Business Session A. Residential Sanitary Service – Mr. Bullock said we have received notice from Bowdon Disposal Service that their per cart pricing to the City of Bowdon will be increasing by 54 cents due to Carroll County Landfill increasing the tipping fees. He recommends the City absorbing the fee increase, which may result in about a $6000 decrease in revenues. He also recommends we go ahead and offer trash services to water customers outside of the city limits at $30 per cart, which can be added to the water bills. Bowdon Disposal is already offering it to some customers directly and would like for us to offer it to the water customers, subject to Bowdon Disposal’s approval. If we have 129 customers sign up, that will make up the $6000 revenue deficit. Motion by Councilmember McEntyre to approve the City absorbing the 54 cents per cart increase in our disposal services; second by Councilmember Marty Johnson; motion carried unanimously. Motion by Councilmember McEntyre to approve offering trash service to water customers outside the city limits as presented; second by Mayor Pro-tem Jan Johnson; motion carried unanimously.  City of Bowdon Mayor & Council Meeting Minutes July 10, 2023 IX. Financial Session No discussion. Councilmember McEntyre asked about the convenience store moratorium. Mr. Bullock said he is working on an update to the ordinance. Motion by Mayor Pro-tem Jan Johnson to adjourn the council meeting; second by Councilmember Marty Johnson; motion carried unanimously. X.
