City of Bowdon CALLED Mayor and Council Meeting Wednesday, November 29, 2023 7:00PM Mayor and Council Chambers, 182 Grammar School Road I.- IV. Agenda Items: The Mayor and City Council met for a CALLED meeting on Wednesday, November 29th, 2023. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Jim Chaffin at 7:00PM. The invocation was led by Mayor Pro-tem Jan Johnson and was followed with the Pledge of Allegiance. Members present: Mayor Jim Chaffin Mayor Pro-tem Jan Johnson Councilmember Wes McEntyre Councilmember Randy Saxon Absent: Councilmember Marty Johnson Staff present: City Manager Gary Bullock City Attorney Kevin Drummond Police Chief Mark Brock City Clerk Susan Pierce V. Business Session City Attorney Kevin Drummond explained that the reason for the called meeting was to address a class- action suit against certain large companies including DuPont and 3M over PFAS Contamination to the water supply. A. Resolution to opt-out and/or file a Request for Exclusion from the Nationwide Class Action Settlement related to PFAS Contamination to the water supply. Motion by Mayor Pro-tem Jan Johnson to approve the resolution to opt out and/or file a request for exclusion from the nationwide class action settlement related to PFAS contamination to the water supply as presented; second by Councilmember McEntyre; motion carried unanimously. B. Engagement of Attorneys J. Anderson Davis of Davis Lucas Carter, LLP of Rome, Georgia and Jeffrey E. Friedman of Friedman, Dazzio, & Zulanas, P.C. of Birmingham, Alabama to represent the City of Bowdon in the litigation referenced in Item “A”. Motion by Mayor Pro-tem Jan Johnson to approve the engagement of attorneys J. Anderson Davis of Davis Lucas Carter, LLP of Rome, Georgia and Jeffrey E.
