Braintree Town Council MEMBERS David Ringius, Jr, Chairman Committee on Ordinance & Rules Steven Sciascia, Vice- Chairman One JFK Memorial Drive Julia Flaherty, Member Braintree, Massachusetts 02184 Lawrence Mackin, Jr, Member March 11, 2020 MINUTES A meeting of the Committee on Ordinance & Rules was held in the Johnson Chambers on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 beginning at 6:00pm. Chairman Ringius was in the Chair. Clerk of the Council, Susan Cimino conducted the roll call. Present: David Ringius, Jr, Chairman arrived @6:32pm Steven Sciascia, Vice-Chairman Julia Flaherty, Member Lawrence Mackin, Jr, Member There was a moment of silence for all those serving in our armed services, past and present, and the meeting was opened with the pledge of allegiance to the flag. Approval of Minutes  None Old Business  002 20 Council President: Town Council Rules or take up any action relative thereto (Rule Fifty-Six: Adoption of Rules) Members were provided an updated copy of the Town Council Rules which shows the redline changes and what has been added and/or deleted. Councilor Sciascia, Vice-Chairman of the Committee on Ordinance & Rules stated we will begin going over the list provided to each of us of Town Council Rules to re-visit from our previous meetings. Councilor Ringius, Chairman of the Committee on Ordinance & Rules stated this was a lot to go through but it is important work. March 11, 2020 Committee on Ordinance & Rules 1 of 2  New Business  20 034 Councilor O’Brien: Proposed Bylaw – Single-Use Plastic Bag Reduction Chairman Ringius stated Councilor O’Brien added this item to the agendas. Councilor Ringius stated I wanted to have it added to the Committee on Ordinance & Rules agenda because I want it clear we are moving forward with this but multiple groups want to speak on this. I would like to see this continue to be tabled at this time and give people the ability to weigh in. There will be no discussion at this time. Motion: by Councilor Sciascia to continue to TABLE Order 20 034 Second: by Councilor Mackin Vote: For (4 – Flaherty, Mackin, Ringius, Sciascia), Against (0), Absent (0), Abstain (0) It was unanimously voted to adjourn the meeting at 7:20 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Susan M.
