Councilor Reynolds was in the Chair. Clerk of the Council, Susan Cimino conducted the roll call. Present: Meredith Boericke, Chairwoman Peter Morin, Vice-Chairman Joseph Reynolds, Member Julia Flaherty, Member Elizabeth Maglio, Member arrived at 6:38pm Also Present: Erin V. Joyce, Mayor Kara L. Nyman, Chief of Staff/Director of Operations Edward J. Spellman, Jr., Director of Municipal Finance James Arsenault, DPW Director Approval of Minutes • November 21, 2023 • November 28, 2023 • December 5, 2023 • December12, 2023 • December 19, 2023 Motion: by Councilor Morin to approve the Minutes of November 21, 2023, Minutes of November 28, 2023, Minutes of December 5, 2023, Minutes of December 12, 2023 and Minutes of December 19, 2023. Motion: by Councilor Morin Second: by Councilor Flaherty Vote: For (5–Boericke, Flaherty, Maglio, Morin, Reynolds), Against (0), Absent (0), Abstain (0) February 6, 2024 Ways & Means Committee 1 of 2 Old Business • None New Business • 24 004 Mayor: Appointment of Kara Nyman as Chief of Staff and Director of Operations or take up any action relative thereto Chairwoman Boericke asked if anyone would like to speak on Order 24 004. Erin V. Joyce, Mayor stated Kara has a great regional network. She is very professional and a hard worker. She is already jumping into the tasks at hand. Kara Nyman stated I look forward to continuing conversations. As a Rockland Selectman I saw how things affect residents on a daily basis. I have a passion for local government. I worked in the State House while in college so I understand not only local but also state government. All welcomed Kara Nyman as the Chief of Staff and Director of Operations. Chairwoman Boericke asked if there is a Motion for Order 24 004. Motion read by Councilor Morin for favorable recommendation to the full Council. Motion: Upon the request of her honor, the Mayor, the Town of Braintree, through the Braintree Town Council, and in accordance with sections 3-3 and 2-10 of the Charter of the Town of Braintree to approve the appointment of Kara Nyman as Chief of Staff and Director of Operations. Motion: by Councilor Morin to approve Order 24 004 Second: by Councilor Flaherty Vote: For (5–Boericke, Flaherty, Maglio, Morin, Reynolds), Against (0), Absent (0), Abstain (0) It was unanimously voted to adjourn the meeting at 7:17p.m. by Roll Call Vote.
