WHEREAS,theCityofBremerton currentlyleviesalodgingtaxpursuanttoRCW 67.28,proceedsofwhich,pursuanttoBMC3.64,areplacedinaspecial fundtobeusedsolely for thepurposeofpayingfortourism promotion,acquisition,oroperationoftourism-relatedfacilities; and WHEREAS, in2024 theCityofBremerton engaged Westbrook/ Main, LLCto studythe useandefficacyof distributionofLodgingTax dollarswithinthe CityofBremerton; and WHEREAS, theCityCouncil oftheCityofBremerton hasconsidered the recommendationsintheattached Westbrook/ Main, LLC2024LTACTransition StudyReport ( the tanddesires to actonseveralrecommendations andshift approachtoallocating lodgingtaxproceedsinorderto ensuremoreefficientandeffective funding oftourismpromotionandtourismoperationswithinthe CityofBremerton; NOWTHEREFORE, THECITYCOUNCILOFTHE CITYOFBREMERTON, WASHINGTON, DOESHEREBY RESOLVEASFOLLOWS: SECTION 1. TheCityCouncil requeststheLodgingTaxAdvisory Committee prioritize thefollowingitemsfromtheWestbrook/ MainReportinits2027funding recommendations: A.)Onedestinationmarketingorganization focusedonproducing andimplementinga tourismandmarketing planspecificallypromotingtheCityofBremertonandlocal Bremerton- basedtourism operations, and B.)ImprovedfacilitiesatPendergast Parkinrecognitionofthevalueoftheyouth sports travelmarketandthepositiveimpact itcanhave ontheoverall tourismmarketin Bremerton. SECTION2. Severability. Ifanyoneormoresections, subsections, or sentencesofthisResolutionareheldto beunconstitutional orinvalid,suchdecisionshallnot affectthevalidityoftheremainingportionofthisResolution andthesameshallremain infull forceandeffect.
