Minutes of the Bristol Tennessee City Council Called Meeting August 10, 2017 The Bristol Tennessee City Council meeting was called to order by Mayor Jack Young on Thursday, August 10,2017 at 12:07 p.m.in the conference room ofthe Easley Annex Building. Members of City Council present included Mayor Jack Young, Councilman Chad Keen, Councilwoman Lea Powers, and Councilwoman Michelle Reuning. Staff members present included City Manager Bill Sorah, City Attorney Danielle Kiser, City Recorder Tara Musick, and Director of Administration Mary Lee Williams. In addition, BTCS Board ofEducation Chairperson Jill Harrison, Board member Jim Butcher, and Director of Schools Gary Lilly were in attendance. The agenda included the determination of a process for selection of a candidate to fill a vacancy on the Board of Education. Councilwoman Powers made the motion to suspend the rules of order. Councilwoman Reuning seconded the motion. All present voted in the affirmative. Discussion ensued regarding the selection process for filling the vacancy on the Board of Education. In her absence, a letter from Vice Mayor Feierabend was read by Mayor Young which provided her input into the selection process. Following discussion, it was suggested that a solicitation of interested individuals would be made to the community with a deadline for submittal of applications and resumes by 5:00p.m. on Friday, August 25th. A meeting was scheduled for Noon on Monday, August 28th to select a pool of applicants to be interviewed. In addition, interviews were scheduled for Tuesday, August 29th at 5:30 pm. The final selection of the candidate to fill the unexpired term on the Board of Education was scheduled for the September 5th meeting of City Council. Councilwoman Powers made the motion to resume rules of order. Councilwoman Reuning seconded the motion. All present voted in the affirmative. Councilwoman Powers made the motion to solicit application with agreed upon questions through 5:00p.m. on Friday, August 25th. City Council will review applications and select candidates for interview during a called meeting scheduled for Noon on Monday. August 28th. Interviews will be conducted at 5:30p.m. on Tuesday, August 29th. The motion was seconded by Councilwoman Reuning. All present voted in the affirmative. Mayor ~f~ Tara Musick, City Recorder
