Bristol Tennessee Tree City USA Board Minutes July 20, 2015 Present: Mary Lou Sproles Karen McSharry Jean Lusardi Rebecca Smith David Hacker Absent: Jack Harmon Susan Tanner Staff: Jeremy Stout April Norris Mike Musick I. Call to Order – Meeting called to order by Karen McSharry at 5:03pm. II. Approval of March 16, 2015 minutes – Rebecca Smith made the motion to approve the March 16, 2015 minutes. David seconded the motion. Motion carried. III. Old Business A. 50K Tree in Tennessee – During the event held on March 14th 75 trees were planted around the Steele Creek Golf Course. B. Tree Keepers 2015- The Tree Keepers Program held on March 14th received very positive feedback. Jean advised that she would go ahead and request money for the 2016 program. IV. New Business A. New Tree Plantings- Thanks to a grant from CSX Railroad, Rails to Trails there were 50 trees planted in our parks. There was also a tree planted to honor Bud Phillips in Anderson Street Park. B. Tree Board Vacancy- Jean made a motion to remove Jack Harmon from the Tree Board due to lack of involvement. Karen seconded the motion and all board members were in favor. Motion carried to remove Jack Harmon. V. Staff Comments – Jeremy advised that the fruit trees are doing well this year. Only one has been lost and possibly another. VI. Board Comments – Becky commented on the Arbor Day Celebration and how nice it was. Mike advised that Holstonview is possibly the school for the 2016 Arbor Day Celebration. Jean advised that the rain garden at the Courthouse Building is doing really well. VII. Meeting adjourned at 5:26pm.
