Bristol Tennessee Tree City USA Board Minutes July 18, 2016 Present: Mary Lou Sproles Karen McSharry M.C. Bullock Jean Lusardi Susan Tanner David Hacker Rebecca Smith Absent: Staff: April Norris Jeremy Stout Mike Musick I. Call to Order – Meeting called to order at 5:01pm. II. Approval of April 18, 2016 Minutes – Susan Tanner made the motion to approve the April, 18, 2016 minutes. Jean Lusardi seconded the motion. Motion carried. III. Old Business A. New Tree Plantings- Jeremy advised that the new trees that were planted at Whitetop Creek Park and in conjunction with the shoreline stabilization project at Steele Creek Park have for the most part survived. B. Tree Keepers 2016 Follow-up- No follow-up was needed for Tree Keepers 2016. C. Arbor Day 2016- Susan Tanner and MC Bullock attended the event and both agreed that it was great. Susan made the suggestion to provide the Tree Board with name tags to wear to such events. Mc Bullock brought the Arbor Day Proclamation for the board to see. IV. New Business A. UT Downtown Study- This study is being conducted by the UT Department of Forestry. Its undergraduate students will conduct the survey and will make recommendations to manage the downtown forestry. The survey has been underway for approximately 5 weeks and will continue for a few more weeks. Results may be ready as early as October 2016. V. Staff Comments – Jeremy advised the board that the splash pad would be opening sometime in late August early September. VI. Board Comments – Jean Lusardi ask that the 2017 Tree Keepers event please be scheduled for the 2nd Saturday in March. VII. Meeting adjourned- The motion was made by Jean Lusardi to adjourn the meeting at 5:15pm. The motion was seconded by Susan Tanner. Motion carried.
